So I was bored, and random discussions in #s2beta come up with a Mario in Sonic 1 screenshot. So I think.. why not.

I open up a new Sonic 1 disassembly, add Sonic CD sprites, edit edit edit..

Hi Mini Sonic! :U

Just a few quick edits.. Rings no longer protect you from death, and are now just a collectable. Die, and the count is kept, along with finishing a level. 100 gets you an extra life, and it resets to 0.

Get a shield..

Lol Big Sonic! :U

So.. yeah. A Somari hack edit, for no reason other than being bored. Mini Sonic's animations are messed up, though, specifically to do with walking and running on slopes and loops, due to the Mini Sonic walking/running sprites only being in one direction. Also, most animations not used by Mini Sonic are now breaking for some reason to do with laziness.

Actually, the middle in the original Super Mario Bros. was just a mixture of the upper mapping of big Mario and the bottom mapping of little Mario. This 'third form' was never playable and just for animative purposes.

I said this was just out of boredom. There are many things wrong. I did this in 5-10 minutes for christ sake, give me a little slack. :|;

Additional boredom:

Sega sound replaced with the music, and s2beta splash screen added (with edited drums for regular Sonic 1 sound driver and DAC).

It's from Sonic CD's sprites. It's a frame of unused animation where Sonic is electrocuted. As I said in the first post, there are animation errors with Mini Sonic due to it not having walking/running frames in other directions than the default.

that's awesome. Did you port sonic cd sprites straight from the files? Also...would it be that time consuming to put sonic 2 sprites into sonic 1? Would be kind of neat to see.

Boredom can lead to some weird but interesting results. Pretty nice.

You could put Sonic 2 sprites into Sonic 1 pretty quickly with Sonic Sprite.

Wrong, Sonic 2 has 8 frames of walking, while Sonic 1 has 6 frames. Unless you port over the whole code with all the frames, it wouldn't be possible, unless you edited the sprites like how I did in Sonic 1 V Starter Hack to make the Sonic 1 sprites look like Sonic 2 sprites.
