There are heaps of differences, some being character placements and no sound, but its hard to see more because the levels all direct to a boss they must have been working on at the time. So I ask you knowledgeable hackers out there to take a look at this beta and find out how to access the beta levels.

Not the European. The Japanese. I searched at my source (www.romnation.net) and didn't found it. And romnation.net have a real big rom archive.

This might sound pretty basic, but pressig Z seems to change your current level you are playing. So I guess that would make level point edits unnessesary.
