I found this back in the day, also found a 'use' for the thing, on my actual cart; by pressing B and turning into Sonic, then pressing RIGHT, I'd zip at high speed out the left side of the screen, and the game would crash, hard (by which I mean even RESET wouldn't work) and often (not always) completely erase the SRAM. Good for erasing silly TT times with those glitched, 'secret' versions of Knuckles, but nought else.
Just a curio, I guess. I fucked with S3's debug more than I played the game. Is it already known how placing many surfing Sonic objects on the AIZ transition (when it is aflame) fucks the loading of AIZ2 tiles?

This is Marble Garden Zone, Act 2.
It seems that there is a single ring floating in the upper left corner. Maybe they put it there to prevent a player to get the "Perfect" bonus?[/quote]
I don't think Sonic 3 has a perfect bonus, for many levels would be impossible to get a perfect in due to Knuckles' paths. This isn't unintentional impossible like the later levels in Sonic 2 though.

The perfect bonus was in Sonic 2 and was just forgoten. As sonic 3 was probably built of sonic 2 they wouldn't have removed it. It may even be in sonic 1.

I like how when people use Debug Mode in S3&K they go "OMG it's Dark Hyper Sonic" I use to just read some of the community's forums, and reading some of the Debug Mode findings just made me laugh. (Although the unknown lampost like sprite in Simon Wai's Protoype is pretty cool along with the surfing sonic and weird red spheres things in Sonic 3)
Also those unused waiting sprites look like in the Nick Arcade sprites when he get's bumped:

And I remember on Sonic Research Zone, they talk about a weird place on Sonic CD that's only accessible with Debug Mode, similar to the weird ring in Marble Garden, at the bottom of Act one of Stardust Speedway:

That site couldn't be more wrong...

This is a set of platfroms below the end of act one. There is NO WAY you could reach them without debug.
YES THERE IS. Try harder next time before trying to claim facts.
It is indeed possible to get down there without debug mode, you just have to know what you're doing.

And unless I've got some weird version of Sonic CD, those crystals definitely are in the foreground at the bottom of the levels.
