Don't worry about it, we don't normally complain about bumping in the archive forums. Just try not to do it in the non-archive forums.

Now, just imagine that blue lines in the foreground are rotating pallets: very slow ones for walls, faster for arrows and others elements. Imagine these rotating pallets like some electricity. Imagine the dynamic pattern in the background too, making a cool 3 planes effect. This is how I imagine this level.

Great job with the coloring! That looks very realistic, although IMO I think it'd have more of a greyish hue to it had it been in the game.

That's really neat!

The background reminds me of that one level in Toy Story (the one where you're inside the toy machine and the coins are all over the place). A little obsessed I guess.

Looks very good, reminds me of Scrap Brain Act 2 a bit.

Am I the only the only that's disappointed with how Genocide City looks.

No, you're not the only one. I have always imagined it as something better, like a city getting destroyed, and going up in flames, showing the Death Egg in the sky. But then, it turned out to be nothing but a Scrap Brain look-alike.

Maybe that's the real reason as to why it was pulled from the game

Keep in mind this is called Cyber City, not Genocide City. My personal thoughts? Genocide City would have been another time Zone of this Cyber City (most likely the "bad future").

I find it quite funny how the "Sonic 2 Long Version" hack has Genocide City as a literal, actual city, and then this concept art surfaces. This would have probably been a very interesting level; I wonder what the boss would have been.
Though really, had it been implemented, I don't think it would have been much more than a Metropolis rehash. Or possibly a Scrap Brain rehash, as someone said before.
(Edit: Shoot, I didn't notice which section this was...I just noticed a discussion about Genocide City and decided to jump in headfirst. I apologize for posting in this section; I will take it as a note to be more careful in the future and look where topics are.)

Posting in the achives isn't neccesarily a bad thing. Atleast it wasn't a huge bump. =P (Even though you can't actually bump in the archives.)

Was Green Hill Zone one big green hill?
Don't take Sonic level names literally, people. :P

But sometimes the imagination is far more awesome than the reality. I mean, would you really want to see the less interesting visuals of the concept art's version in Sonic 2 Long version than what was imagined?

To be honest? I hated Genocide City in the hack. The "Cyber City" (or Genocide City as it is believed to have been renamed to) Zone would have been far more interesting, in my opinion. Kind of like how Metropolis was, but maybe less lava and crap.
And hey, if the time travel concept had been implemented, it might've been connected to Metropolis itself. Pure speculation, of course, but...
Another possibility is that it's an early draft of Metropolis Zone, and the "City" in Cyber City and Genocide City is merely a coincidence.
