I guess the only way to find out is to ask Sonic Team.

Lets form a mass mob and pin the makers by the ears, tie them up to a wall with chains and force them to answer our questions!!

Yeah I know, but its their own fault, they should've completed Sonic2 as they were showing it, with the swirly feet (which could cause hypnosis apparently) and leave in HPZ and WHZ and GCZ but noooo! they had to cut it out... *finally dies*

Wood Zone = Past Metropolis Zone?
We may never know...

If there was time travel, there would be some codeing to go to that level.

Not if they'd removed the code.

They needed the new levels as fast a possible so Naka could program the new loops. The old levels would just take up space.

New loops? What do you mean new loops? A loop is a loop is a loop. The only differences are collision masks. Jeez.

Well think about it there would have to be 3 levels In an alpha. And there would be sprites for it that we didn't find
(past post, sparkle, Ect.) and levels like wood zone would not have act 2 if it's Metropolis past. <_<

Like in Sonic 1, whose 3-act system code was removed?

(past post, sparkle, etc.)

Which could easily have been removed.

WZ2 is empty in our beta, and we have reason to believe it never had anything in it at all.

There is no proof that there was ever a time-travel element in Sonic 2. Wood Zone uses Metropolis Zone's music because they had no better music for it, and there is no evidence Genocide City ever existed, let alone was intended to use CPZ graphics.

Well some peolple are to slow to understand I'll have to explain.

1. There would be three LEVELS in the game there are apporx. 12 levels,
12/4 is 3 because of the past, present, good future, bad future.

2. Yes they can be removed but they would exsisted in the past.

3. that's horrable! death egg was not finish in our prototype but later it exsisted, so that dose not mean wood zone act 2 did not exsist in a later bult.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
do actual resherch. (also if you say "but death egg has got shorten to one act" thing is because it was the final level wood zone was never the final level.)

Your typing is that gruesomely awful that you made precisely zero actual points there. You can't even SPELL "research", let alone do it. Proofread before you post.

There was never a time-travel element planned for Sonic 2.

EDIT: Wow, hypocrisy in action. Seems I missed the "You're" error. Cacography is contagious, evidently.
