Yeah so this came from boredom, I was playing SCD because I hadn't in a while and while I was playing Metallic Madness, I noticed something that seemed a bit simular to another game done by Sonic Team, heres the tile in the green outlined box:

After thinking a bit I remembered seeing a tile that was simular in Knuckles Chaotix in Amazing Arena(in the white outlined box, for some reason green wouldn't show up heh):

Dunno if I've found anything new here, just something I noticed while playing the Sonic CD. Any thoughts?

Sonic Team reuses tiles all the time, like the Palm Trees from Choatix appearing in Sonic Advance 2 and 3. So this doesn't come off as much of a surprise.

..With all this throwing around of the term 'Sonic Team', I take it that neither of you guys know that neither Sonic CD nor Chaotix were actually made by Sonic Team.

Regardless, it's interesting about the reuse and adaptation of some graphics from other Sonic games, though. o_o; I think the Special Stage cloud is the most obvious, though, as it's the exact same shape and everything.

And, BTW, Muffin_Man? Chaotix Palm Trees in Sonic Advance 2/3? I've played right the way through both and I haven't seen this. =P Comparison shots, please.

Both of the roots of the palmtrees are exactly the same as in choatix, but with more basic pallettes.

And Sonic Team didn't make Sonic CD or Choatix? Whoops, I didn't know that. Funny through, both are my favourite Sonic games and Sonic Team didn't make either.

Well, you learn something new everyday. But er.. probably a stupid question, why would Sonic Team allow other people to build their games?

Probably because they were working on other projects at the time. When SCD was being made, Sonic Team was working on Sonic 2.

As for Chaotix, I can't remember what Sonic Team might have been working on at the time. Maybe Yuji just wasn't up to the hardware. =D

EDIT: SHIT's entry on Sonic Team. Where is Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

Knew that, just I always got the image of Naka being over possesive about sonic and not allowing anyone else to program his game.

I thought that they were all made by Sonic Team, just that their were "teams within the team" for each game. The Sonic 2 Team was some members of sonic team + some american artists, and the Sonic CD team was some Sonic Team members minus Yuji Naka. that's what I'd always thought anyway.

I'm sure most of you know that Dimps made the Sonic Advance series for Sonic Team...so if Dimps had access to Chaotix tiles, they must have either a really good extractor or Photoshop. <_<
It might be worthwhile to try to contact people from Dimps on their usage of remnants from Sonic Team's titles, such as the "Neo Green Hill" name, etc.
