SEGA Forever has now added the Japanese version of Dynamite Headdy, which has different boss skins and an easier difficulty

The artwork in the Japanese cover was one console generation ahead of its time. + - lol a-head =P

That's the highest quality bit that I've seen of it, by the way. It's like they're teasing that they have high-res archives of all these classic front/back covers but they'll never release them in the wild. =\

I'm starting to think that the whole premise behind Sega Forever was always to delist and rebrand every SEGA game in the Android/IOS stores, while trying to make people think that there would be much more to it than that.

The whole Sega Forever thing is nice at times, because we get updates to games that were abandoned and not supported on current devices like Monkey Ball, but most of the time it's just made me angry. I absolutely hate the fact that they've added advertisements to apps that I've purchased in the past. I just checked out SMB Sakura Edition, since it was one of the first iPad games I ever bought and thankfully the ads introduced to purchased copies there are not as bad as what happened with the mobile remasters of Sonic CD / 1 / 2. There's just a Sonic icon in the top left of the main menu that you can tap to view an ad for other Sega Forever games, but that was all I saw during a quick look.

The still haven't fixed their major fuck-up with Sonic CD. It still forces ads on you after the title screen, (purchased copies) and it's still completely unplayable on iPhone X due to them never testing it.

Based on the old Terms of Use for these things, they have GOT to violate the new European privacy laws. Have they don't anything to address the amount of spyware or is Sega Forever being Sega Retried from Europe?

I admit that I haven't read the privacy policy, but I don't think they're violating anything. GDPR primarily deals with personal information collected from users and they don't collect any personal information outside of age when you run their apps. As long as what they do collect is anonymous and they have no way of tracing it back to you, then they're probably fine. In this case, GDPR stuff would fall on the app stores themselves, and Sega doesn't have access to that data.

At least for iOS, I've submitted apps both personally under my own account and also under a corporate account for work. Apple doesn't provide data about any individual users that download apps to the publisher, they only have access to actual numbers of downloads & updates by region.

How frequently have SEGA Forever been updating their game list? Its very obvious that Genesis/Mega Drive can run very easily on phones, but I'm more interested as how NiGHTS into Dreams or Sonic Adventure could run. I know something like NiGHTS is possible, but no clue about Dreamcast emulation.

They can't be updating them that often since they made the effort to add advertisements to Sonic CD and then left the game unplayably broken.

I played through the entirety of Sonic Adventure emulated on my Galaxy S5 a few years ago, and it ran at full speed with only a few graphical bugs, so I'd say it's possible performance-wise at least. Not that'd they want to go through the effort anyway, so I doubt they'd do it.

Sega just updated Sonic1 for Android: "Eggman's plan to fill the game with bugs has failed and they have all been safely removed."

Unacceptable answer Sega. Stop being cute. This is a disaster.

I'm afraid to even test it anymore.

Exactly how many bugs DID Eggman leave in the game before the fix? :specialed:/>

EDIT: Holy fuck the website is STILL broken from a simple "?" when using referral links. Maybe it's time to stop paying attention to Sega until they do something that deems worthy of attention when it comes to their "retro" mindset. Good grief.

I tested the update on my (android) phone.

They're now advertising Sonic Forces Speed Battle (top right):

So yeah, a completely pointless update.

Meanwhile, Sonic CD is still completely broken on an iPhone X.

Please tell me it's not just my phone (a Galaxy J3 Eclipse) that has these issues:

    • In all games, pausing and unpausing during the results screens can result in you being stuck.
    • In Sonic 2, ads can play between each "act" in Boss Attack Zone, destroying the flow.
    • Sonic CD can crash for no reason. Also, I hear static when multiple sound effects play at once, which is really troublesome during the final boss.

  17. Sega have now decided to put out a Saturn style bluetooth controller that comes with "19 free games" eg: Sega Forever.

It's £29.99 at most online retailers.... only downside is it takes 2xAAA batteries rather than being rechargeable.

Interesting that they have put this out, when Retro-bit are also putting out some Sega licenced bluetooth pads later this year....

Meanwhile, I can't find it for pre-order for less than $45, which seems a tad steep...

Why does Sega Forever have such a European bias? Why are there no JP titles for JP users? Why does the Sega Forever only retweet .co.uk links and shops which require imports for US and JP users? Japan gets it's own cool Sega stuff but really the Sonic merch at Spencers and Hot Topic is getting really old.

They've also updated Sonic 2 on 5th June. Like Sonic 1 it now advertises Sonic Forces Speed Battle and that SEGAZINE thing.
