Funny stuff, but yeah. I'm still annoyed we will never have real Generations DLC.

This is getting crazy. Wonder how far Ruby can go before he's stopped?

I'm really enjoying RubyEclipse's social media workings, but eventually the self-aware act is going to get old. I hope there's some substance for them to work off of in the future, instead of referencing and joking about their failings.
If done right, it can last quite a while. I'll only mention the pure carnival of weirdness that is the Denny's social media account. But the manager there is doing it right because it's a ho-hum brand, so being weird kind of catches people's attention and engages the customer.
Also because Denny's is prime stoner/hangover/late night food on a budget, so it already gets pretty weird there. Delicious pancakes.
With the poor reception the Sonic brand has in the west and how it's often mocked and its "memecular" nature from how bad most of it is, making the brand self aware is actually BENEFITING it. The main thing now comes from if the development side will actually try to build the brand up further or keep drawing out the ridicule. Sega's president at least says he realizes the company has burned a lot of fan trust in the last 10-15 years and they want to work on fixing that, but I see that as crocodile tears. They should be working with their fans (to an extent) on how to regain trust.
Restore your core before you try to expand your market out. It's a basic principle of business or anything: you can't build up without a solid foundation.

How in the hell did he even get AWAY with that?!? I can get the meme appeal shit getting a pass, but he up and promoted a spiritual successor of their brand, developed independently of the company. That HAS to be getting on some of the exec's nerves unless they don't know about that, or they don't see it as any viable competition.
Though perhaps they're actually fine with it. Either SEGA can be chill or this is their way of saying "eh. We're not going to continue this. Let them do what they want."
Either way, Ruby's plug / acknowledgement of it on the official account is pretty awesome. Major props sir.
wonder if that's the extent of what he'll be permitted to talk about regarding fan / indie cred

SEGA America/West and SEGA Japan are very different companies. Wow.

Destructoid has even written an article about the off the wall Sonic accounts lately:

I hope this really will improve relations, at least with the crowd the games won't necessarily get to anymore. I just witnessed both a troll and a legitimate person basically say they correlate Sonic fans with autism.
