Sonic-16 recreation?

Has anyone ever been interested in seeing Sonic-16 recreated? Or been curious about the game in general?

I've never really been that interested. It was interesting to see the proof of concept, but really the gameplay style felt ill-suited for the Sonic franchise. As far as recreation, if someone were to do it, sure. But it's not something I would actively be looking for.

Yeah... no. The whole "stealth sonic game" thing is just the antithesis of what the series stands for. It didn't look like a good game either, really, just a hackjob tie-in with the series. Mark of the Ninja is an EXCELLENT example of stealth done right, even though it's a recent development, and one of the best parts about it is that it's fast. If you're skilled enough to quickly, and silently, take out everyone in a room, you can do so in around a minute. Sonic-16 is more of a "hide from the monster" scenario, and waiting games aren't fun. They're grueling endurance tests.
That all being said, on the topic of a SatAM game, I think a 3D stealth-action game or test level based in Robotnik's junkyard outposts would actually be pretty cool, if you played super fast and you had to plant bombs in certain locations and just avoid getting caught, lest you have to fight the Swatbots.
Outside of that, I really don't see this being worth the effort. If a copy were to be found, preserve it by all means, but no need to try and make a whole project out of that.

I remind people the stealth sections of Sonic Heroes using Espio. Or the more recent ones in Sonic Lost World.
Neither were particularly entertaining.

For me Sonic-16 encapsulated the side of Sonic I hated at the time - cheesy action hero television moody teenager western bullshit. Like Gene said, a money spinner for sure, like Boom.
The Japanese had a much better handle over Sonic, and still do imo.
Though I wouldn't mind seeing a fan recreation just for fun.
EDIT: does anyone know if the demo was actually running on a Mega Drive?

I think it was shown running on Amiga or something.

Sonic 16 looked like trash and probably would be better off as its own game without Sonic characters.

A garbage game based off of the SatAM cartoon. Why in the world would something like that need to have a remake?

I personally would've loved to see where the concept could've gone if it was worked on for even another month or two. One thing that needs to be remembered about Sonic-16 is that, while said demo we know of was rather slow and methodical, Peter M even stated the game would be of a much faster pace if development continued, and that peaks my interest.
As for SatAM in general, I really don't understand why such a large degree of the fanbase seems to hate it, it certainly wasn't THE BEST SONIC, but it's not horrid either. The lot of you act like DBZ fans when it comes to the Broly movies for the most part, lol.

I think it's largely hype backlash. There's been WAY too many times it's been hyped as the superior rendition of Sonic and it fan base has a few too many trolls who talk derogatory about the games and anything else because of it (they are a vocal minority however, trust me), leading many to get sick of it and punctuate it's flaws, even if some may only mean it in a 'it's good but not THAT good' way. If it wasn't for this it likely would be treated the same as the other cartoons; ie. viewed as flawed, but having it's fair praise.
Not to mention it was adapted into the even more chaotic Archie, so a lot of flak it gets either side meets the other.
I am going to admit this, I like the Freedom Fighters concept wise, but nearly every time someone toots them as being any more developed and three dimensional than any of the SEGA cast I have to call bull shit.
It's hard to really judge the game on a tech demo. It looks like it could at least have some fun points, if not largely for being a Sonic game (then again this is coming from someone who thought the same about Labyrinth). I wonder if any of the other Freedom Fighters would have been playable (I know Mars had plans but not if 16 did).
And hey, we got a great game out of AoSth. :D

Oh yes, one certain individual with a Japanese-sounding name (funnily enough) comes to mind. Trolled everywhere & banned everywhere due to her insistence that SatAM was the real Sonic canon (never taking no for an answer when you told her that there's no official "canon" at all). Sonic the Comic was "non-canon" because there wasn't a cartoon made from it, AoStH was "non-canon" because there wasn't a comic made from it, The games were "non-canon" because it didn't have SatAM characters in it. You named it, she shat all over it. Also had multple accounts to back her up!
Totally agree though, SatAM was waaaaay overhyped before it got a DVD release. I think the phrase "the memory cheats" comes to mind and once the nostalgia glasses were taken off, people realised that it just wasn't as good as all those "Freedom Fighters" fanpages and Sonic HQ made it out to be. I've always said you could replace Sonic with Zippo The Cheetah" and Robotnik with "Professor Horrible" and you'd have the exact same show.
