Hi,

I'm here at these forums because I initially just wanted to help with the Sega Retro Wiki- mainly, getting scans of magazines up, as well as some general info I can help out with. UNFORTUNATELY, for some reason, when I try to create an account on Sega Retro, it just resets and an account is not made. I am on OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and tried using Safari, Chrome, and Firefox browsers with no success. I tried PMing an administrator for help, but did not get a response. I was hesitant to post a topic here for "cannot make an account on Sega Retro" because of all the restrictions and bias against new forum users. If anyone has any info on why I'm not able to create a Sega Retro account, I'd appreciate some help. FWIW, obviously, I was able to create a Sonic Retro account.

Here is an scan of a Sega Maga magazine I'm trying to upload. I have more of these magazine, and believe it to be the continuation of Sega Magazine (official). Has anyone seen or are familiar with these? I have tried scouring the web, and have found no images or info. As you can see, both are official Sega magazines. The Sega Maga magazines also start crhonologically from the end of the last Sega Magazine- which I have all 9 issues of and have high quality scans of and are waiting to be added to the Sega Retro Wiki. Also, I have all the Sega Saturn Magazine (JP) magazines, so whatever is missing from that set is waiting to be scanned and uploaded.

Have you tried creating an account under a different name? There are some issues with forum account integration because of recent updates.

In the meantime, you can post scans here and someone will copy them over to Sega Retro.

Yes, I tried a different name- even with instructions to use the same user name as your Sonic Retro Account.

And to answer your comment about posting the covers here and someone posting them... well, someone needs motivation to do this work for the public right? My motivation is I need credit for doing this. I need to leave my mark. It's a small consolation for my time spent scanning, fixing the image, and uploading. Too much people just consume, and don't contribute. There sometimes is too little appreciation for those that do this stuff.

Scans of many of the pages of that Sega Maga can be found here:

There is a lot of Sonic-related stuff if anybody is interested.

That site says that it's a continuation of Sega Magazine. How many issues of it do you have? I wonder how long it ran.

Edit: This small picture shows at least 10 different issues, assuming they aren't duplicates: https://sega.jp/sega...t/image/100.jpg

Any clues on what those "Harmony" things in these scans could be, guys?

They may be the actual source and original intended use for the Sonic the Screensaver pictures.

From the description there, those Harmony things are Sega company newsletters of some sort. There isn't much info on them. They might have only been available to Sega employees.

There is a brief discussion about Harmony and Sega Maga here: http://mixi.jp/view_...=592&id=9570741

Someone says that Sega Maga was available for free in Sega game centers.

Someone also says "When I saw that you had a copy of Harmony, I thought for a second that you must be a Sega store employee!"

I'm very curious about these Harmony magazines... they're probably very rare :(

It's also worth noting the numbering: Issue 125 was released 1/1994, and it looks like there were 9 issues per year. So at that rate the first issue came out in 1980!

They were specifically drawn for an internal newsletter/magazine/whatever (if it's called Harmony, it'll be that). I had a look for it once but didn't get very far.

As far as I understand it was a push SoJ made to raise popularity of Sonic throughout '97 before Adventure, but wasn't expecting to see it here. These scanrs are from 98?

I uploaded the rest of the Sega Magazine scans so the set is done: http://segaretro.org/Sega_Magazine_(JP)

BTW, I have a set of Sega Saturn Magazines up on eBay... 105 issues, some of the earlier issues with posters.

Also have a set of Sega Magazines

I have these issues:

You can see that the Magazine was called "Sega Magazine" for a couple of issues before they switched over to "Sega Maga." Chronilogically, these magazines start from where the previous Sega Magazine left off. You can also see from the pic below that the magazine is skinnier than it's predesessor, whereas the previous Sega Magazine filled the whole plastic bag (with cardboard backer), the ones that come after doesn't length wise. The later Sega Magazine/Sega Maga is noticeably thinner, containing less pages than the ones before.

Fixed the link for you. Just use [sega] tags when linking SEGA Retro.

Also when you said you had scans I assumed you were uploading .pdf files for all of them! :v:

THX.

Scans of the whole mag will be too much work for the amount of free time I have. Sorry.

It seems like these mags are pretty rare. I'll get the cover scans for them up though.
