Once upon a time (~2000) Tectoy sold a VCD player/karaoke machine in Brazil, called the "VideoKaraoke". There are probably multiple variants.



why are they using Sega logos?

Interesting, VKS 3.0 is the Sega branded one. This is from around the same time that Sega licensed Mega Drive VCD players in China, but this one doesn't have any joypad ports, so that can probably be ruled out.

Worth noting that Tectoy still make these types of Karaoke machine, albeit with DVDs (although Video CDs are still supported). But aside from the DVD Karaoke Game DVT-G100 which has Master System games built-in (and a "Dance Machine" variant with Master System controllers), there's no Sega to be found.


There's also the Prologue 21 and Super Prologue 21 but that's a different kettle of fish.

Those two are one and the same.

The Commander unit is actually a stock launch model Saturn board with small modifications, connected to a shit load of extra boards through the cart slot. The inside of the thing is positively sisyphusian. Like 20 PCBs interlocked in various different orientations... They made a later version which combined many boards into a single gargantuan one, but even that one had over a dozen boards.

And yeah, it can run Saturn games fine:



There's a button in the front panel next to the controller ports that bank switches the boot rom from pSOS+ to a standard Japanese Saturn one. You need to setup the clock and language every time since there is no battery. It doesn't output RGB, sadly, but it has S-Video and multiple composite outputs.
