This is a game that was released on Steam last week. Having done some research, it's by a developer that put out a bunch of mediocre games on the Xbox Live Indie Game thing and has a website that looks like it was made a decade ago. The game is a sequel to a less Sonic-like 2D game in which you also play as a ball with eyes. On A Roll 3D was also actually released two years ago on the Xbox Live Indie marketplace thing but nobody noticed cause it just kinda got mixed in with all of the other amazingly crappy games on there.

I just thought you all should know about this.

Are we looking at the same game here?

B-list games like these is what makes the Xbox Live Indie store great.

The problem is that Microsoft puts minimum prices on software so everything is overpriced. It's not a fault of the developers though - I'm sure a lot of them would go for the free-to-play, ad supported model if the option was there.

Of course, if having a game with checkered floor patterns is good enough to point out in a Sonic forum...

Hear me out, I think with a little polishing we have a more solid looking engine than Generations. Maybe I'm just going off of how the camera moves. But I really like that aspect, that's what stuck out to me.

So with some polish this is better than the Havok and Hedgehog engines? Really?

The game actually looks ok and the control seems to be good (according to the few reviews on Steam). The graphics are not the big deal but still it would not be a game that I play.

Video looks about as challenging and interesting as wiping my ass after a shit. Obviously very Sonic-inspired, which is kinda bad in this game's case. Would love to see something that plays more with rolling physics and momentum, and less "oh hey look how we're ripping off Sonic but not quite".

Well the video is of just Stage 1. how hard do you expect level 1 to be anyway?

If not challenging, then at least interesting.

I like the camera angles.

Some of us have hairy bums.

Keeping that noise clean is the bane of my life.

10/10 best first level ever. Would play again.

Actually, been rethinking my earlier statement and going to elaborate; for the level of challenge and interest the video shows, it's too long. Seriously, the pacing is like porridge and the only thing of note to break up entry-level platforming there is the loop. Which just adds to the 'lol Sonic' factor. Going to baby your players in a first level? Make it 30 seconds absolute tops before capping it and upping the ante. Most of them are smarter than to be forced to leap over the same statue five times before they finally 'get' it.

Huh, so this is a thing that exists.

Gotta agree that the Sonic influence is way too obvious. The checkered flags/green grass of Green Hill was blatant enough, but then red springs, spikes, even goalposts started showing up. And then it threw in the staple loop just to reinforce that it's not being subtle. :v:

Like everyone else has said, the game also looks too easy. I didn't watch the entire thing so correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see any enemies whatsoever. The first level of Super Mario Bros. put up a bigger challenge.

At least they have a functional physics engine? I could see that being reused for a more original work.
