also ads can be used to revive, if you buy something you are losing that bonus revive in a good score run.

flawed game right now, I hate it.

The gambling aspect is just absurd. I don't understand how such a design could have been approved.

Uh... that's not how it works.

Deals like this remove all mandatory ads. In other SEGA games (Dash, Crazy Taxi...), all ads are removed after making a purchase, expect those you specifically choose to watch for little bonuses. Regardless though, I'm pretty sure at this stage that Runners doesn't remove the mandatory ads whatever you do.

Because nobody that ever sets up a method for gambling has ever made any money off it...

Let me put it another way: you can literally gamble with real money in a kids game.

Are they going to make money off of it? Yes. For this kind of thing is it good practice? No.

Sadly no one in mainstream media gives enough of a fuck about Sonic to get as far as the gambling bit, so no one knows it exists. I really would have liked to have gotten Classic Sonic, but paying money for a 6% chance of getting a character skin is fucking bullshit.

I emailed the support team, instead of leaving a review on Google Play, and a real human on the staff told me the invasive ads now go away if you at least buy something.

Bullshit.

I've seen people buy stuff on Stadium and they're still getting ads.

So I not only can't trust SEGA to let Sonic Team take their time to make a proper video game, and not meddle with it somehow, I can't get an honest answer from the support guys either?

Jeez, they're probably playing fire-break with all the negative emails flooding in.

THAT looks like the most useful app ever. I have no idea if it'd work for me, though, let alone if my phone is x86 based; still learning a lot about Android.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a throwaway mobile game for a brand that should have probably been abandoned in the mid-2000s at the latest. Its fanbase is full of nutjobs and weirdos and because of that chunk, the whole fanbase is perceived to have some form of autism, pedophiles, or is just plain retarded.

I will say: some of you did not help that case at the Sonic Boom events. Boom 2013 Q&A is a textbook example.

Of course no one will give a shit. Sega alone won't since every practice they have in this game sans ads is standard game practice in Japan. Look at how big pachinko is over there. This is pure Japanese game development designed by Japanese for Japanese, but was foolishly released globally in the hopes the game will serve as Sega's personal lightning shield for money. Sad thing is, it's probably working anyway.

The outrage makes sense, but it's a vocal minority where others will say:

-Who the hell cares? You don't have to play it.
-You're just complaining you can't get a cosmetic item with a slightly better benefit.
-I love Sonic and Sonic Team never does any wrong ever! How dare you criticize them.

We're playing a game where unless you bend over and take it, there is no winning. Such is being a fan of Sonic these days.

Yeah, no, we're not doing that.

A free game is not absolved from critique, but if you're going to be an ass about the people with genuine gripes about how shitty the design of the game is, even by F2P/freemium standards, that shit's not flying.

All of you are better than that.

Again, there are many, MANY games available with exactly the same model. Anything F2P that has you collecting allies/creatures that are recruited/summoned without control over what you get allows you to gamble with real money.

There are loads of these; I've already mentioned SEGA Networks published Dragon Coins (PEGI 3) and Chain Chronicle (PEGI 7), the latter of which is developed by Gumi who are also responsible for Brave Frontier (PEGI 7).

There's also:
Elemental Kingdoms - Fedeen Games (PEGI 3)
Cast & Conquer - R2Games (PEGI 3)
HellFire: The Summoning - DeMA Corp. (PEGI 7)
Ascension - Playdek, Inc. (PEGI 3)
Titans - Uken Games (PEGI 7)

If I did more than a quick search, I'm sure I could find more. By the way, I'm only counting those that are PEGI-rated and 7 or less.

This isn't anything new. If it makes money, it will be done.

I don't know why you guys are so upset about this roulette wheel in terms of "gambling". Sure, it's expensive, stingy, and evidently unfair, but it never used straight cash. Kids have that kind of "gambling" in every token based arcade I've ever been to in the form of the coin pushing game. It's nothing new for kids to have indirect gambling available, but as soon as fun bucks become actual cash, then it's a problem.

Except it does. Or at least, it's an option and the easier way to get red rings.

If anything, coin pushers are worse because you can't play for free (requires money) and it rewards money. That actually is gambling.

Three things not related to this:

1. They fixed Charmy's description.
2. If the game has slowdown when you start your jump, you get a massive boost in jump height (because it updates your velocity before acceleration).
3. The fuck is a Genesis? lern2localise
