Westone almost files for bankruptcy

Westone being the company behind Wonder Boy. They used to be close to Sega but haven't done much recently, except apparently rack up debt. Anyway their future looks uncertain, as does the Wonder Boy collection currently up on XBLA/PSN.


You could say they're about to be "west-owned", except you wouldn't say that because it's stupid, and I've never been sure if it's meant to be pronounced "West one". Just don't get your hopes up for a Monster World V.

I'm just sad this means the Aquario game they were working on is probably going to be canned

It's west and stone put togehter as one word. So like "west-(st)one." As in, not like the number. This is evident if you see their company name written in katakana, where it'd be different if "one" was pronounced "1".

The name comes from its two founders, Ryuuichi Nishizawa (Nishi = West) and Michishito Ishizuka (Ishi = Stone).
