Is this bidding on solely the Sonic Labyrinth ROM chip, or is it on the lot (including the chip labeled LUNAR on the test board)? I'm really interested in the contents of the LUNAR chip, so I'm a bit curious.

While finding some neat stuff is always fun, I more appreciate the chance to see differences in builds (if any) and preservation. It saddens me that there are people who sit on prototype carts in plastic boxes and assume they're getting more valuable when really, they're just rotting away and will eventually be scraps of silicon and copper.

I'm going to bid at around 40000-55000 yen for the Labyrinth lot. And 60000-75000 yen for the Chaotix lot.

I messaged a small extra pledge to drx but can't add much more ATM due to various huge spending recently. Auction is already at 80k unfortunately so unless more pledges come in right now it looks like drx can't get the lot.

Lost the Labirynth lot. Bid 95000 yen (about $873). The guy was apparently very determined to win. I started at 40000 yen and he kept outbidding me for an hour (Yahoo Japan auctions extend for 5 minutes when you bid near the end).

Won the Chaotix for 51000 yen (about $470 + 15% commission + shipping). If anyone is interested in helping out, please PM me.

I also contacted the seller to ask if he has any more Sonic-related stuff.

edit: I should mention that I will be away until late December and won't be able to dump Chaotix until then

An update. The package was safely forwarded to me from Japan. When I get back in late December I will dump it. Fortunately I already have 32x dumping tools (32x EPROMs are often 16-bit and have more pins than regular 8-bit EPROMs, so they need special adapters and such).
