Shadow the Hedgehog 100% Playthrough I'm going to hate myself after this.

Part 12 is released!

After thinking about how I could lose my sanity, I've decided to 100% Shadow the Hedgehog as intended without cheating devices.

That means going through all 326 stories + the final two stages + all A-Rank + Expert mode. I plan to record the series and put it up on YouTube, hopefully starting within a week.

I'm seriously going to hate myself after this. I was getting frustrated playing through the game casually just to have a random throwback. I feel I'll have more pain as I'll be using the PS2 version, it's the version I played as a kid.

The channel it'll be posted on is here.

Playlist link here.

I will be following this page as a guide so I'm not entirely clueless on what I have an haven't completed.

General notes:
-I'm going to play the PS2 version. It's the only copy I have, and if I am able to swap and record to the Gamecube version at any time near the beginning of the playthrough, I will most likely change.
-The game is going to be ran on a PS2 Emulator as I don't have the proper equipment to capture footage from my PS2. I ripped everything myself, and it was a lot of work for my standards (I'm just that lazy). So you may see slow-down here and there, but I'm tinkering around with settings as much as I possibly can for the best quality.
-There will be commentary. I will not sit silently through the game 326(+2) times and upload it, that's just stupid and boring. Co-commentators will be in future parts. I don't expect people to actually sit and watch every part anyways, just leaving it on to play in the background to listen to commentary is good enough for me.
-Parts roughly 30 minutes minimum and an hour at max.
-My goal is to finish in hopefully 2 years maximum.
-I will be working a second channel while I'm doing this playthrough, so some parts may come in slow at sporadic times.
-Most upload dates will be between Friday through Monday.
-Due to life parts won't come out very fast.
-Parts will have a maximum of 2 if the story I'm doing is taking too long.
-If you'd like to co-commentate on a part (or more), contact me.

Lord have mercy on me.

I'd do it myself if I had the requisite equipment. I actually enjoy the game.

I enjoy the game myself, too. I just don't know how I'm going to last playing the game 326 times.

Time will tell, I guess.

If you are going to put yourself through that I would suggest the Gamecube or Xbox versions, they are far superior.

>326 stories

Why? The game's barely worth beating 10 times JUST to get the secret 11th ending, which basically says no matter what choice you made, it didn't matter.

Because people like watching me suffer and I'm a masochist when it comes to gaming it seems.

I usually get tired of playing after the third playthrough.

Well GeneHF, Clutchy's been funny this way and he did ask me somethin' along the lines of what I would think about SHtH bein' played 326 times since I'm the first person he goes to for most if not all things that he's unsure of, nonetheless I said that I didn't want him to do it because of the sanity he'd lose. Now I have said before and will continue to say it no matter what that "a game can NEVER game too long" however I realize a game can always be slow at anytime, varied by the point of the game that the player(s) have approached...one reason why Dark Souls: PtD and Dark Souls 2(mainly Dark Souls 2) is the difficulty makin' slower it for me than it did Clutchy and couple of other very good pals(needless to say, I'm the last one to finish DaS2). Dark Souls in-general is besides the point, I suppose now I should prepare myself, my pants, my desk and maybe new microphone equipment for this slow descent from sanity to insanity 'cause I KNOW I'll be doin' co-commentary on this and I don't even know the game...so it's blind shenanigans for me IF he has me as a co-commentator. Now enough of my selfishness!

To you Clutchy, you crazed weeaboo, no offense;
Spoiler

I imagine this'd either end up an unfinished project or put on the backburner multiple times before it's finished. Best of luck to you, though I really recommend the Gamecube version rather than the PS2 one.

Yeah, for your own sanity I wouldn't go through all 326 stories. If you don't go insane, you'll probably give up not even 10% on the way.

The words under my avatar say what I think about the game, but I don't think I could beat any game that many times. I love Mega Man X to the ends of the earth, but I haven't even beaten that game 40 times. Shadow, an incredibly flawed game, would have no chance. There's also the fact that I really hate the idea of the 326 titles, because all they do is fill out a list.

I don't think I've beat any game even half that many times. Now, I may have beaten Sonic 3 a lot, but that's almost 20 years of gameplay.

May God have mercy on your soul...

Well, that could be a good way to get original content on your channel I guess. A lot of work though.

I still never finished this shit. I am about 90% done and the last time I got through The Ark...was scarring, I've taken over a year off. I really should finish it before it's been 10 years :|

Taking the game slowly isn't bad for sure, though. I'll most likely slowly progress through the game over and over again as time goes on. I expect myself to record a fair amount at the start, but slowly do less as time goes on so I don't get to irritated at playing through the same level for the 20th time.

If you really wanna lose your sanity, you could always sacrifice it to something more constructive and creative, like animating or programming. :v: I'd personally recommend the former over the latter if you prefer keeping hair on your head.

I'll be amazed if you pull this off, though. It's ridiculously ambitious. I take it you like to live dangerously?
