I'm a huge fan of the Japanese soundtrack, but the only songs I can't stand on the JPN soundtrack is the boss theme and Metallic Madness Bad Future. When it comes to the US version, I only like Wacky Workbench Present, Stardust Speedway Present, Stardust Speedway Bad Future, the Boss theme, game over theme, and Sonic Boom. I just feel that the Japanese soundtrack suits each level and represents them better than the US soundtrack. Not to mention, the JPN soundtrack is much more enjoyable overall. I enjoyed both videos and I can't wait to watch the Sonic 3K video as well. (Seeing how Sonic CD and S3K are tied as my favorite Sonic games of all time.)

-Archie Comic in US as opposed to a Sonic the Comic issue in JP
-Saying MEGA-CD in JP while saying SEGA CD in US
-Different Sonic CD discs on the JP and US videos
-Calling Amy Princess Sally in the US video (also shoeing the US manual only in the US video)
-Different "ARE YOU CONFUSED YET!?" pictures in JP and US
-Saying you prefer the JP OST in the JP video while saying you prefer the US OST in the US video
-Saying "Eggman" throughout JP while saying "Robotnik" throughout US (except for the one time you say "Eggman" in the US video)

Technically there are NINE things different, but other than that just seven things are different (not six), correct?

Actually, the pictures kind of relate. The one in the JP version is the Tenth Doctor from his (too) often-quoted "wibbly wobbly timey wimey" speech in the episode "Blink." The US one is from an also-confounding time travel scene in the final episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Yep, I missed one. Doh.

And yeah, I definitely miscounted when I made MORE differences than I'd planned after recording. One that nobody has gotten yet, though:

Great video and I agree that Sonic CD is like a drug trip. Not nearly as solid as the other games for me but unique and a lot of fun. I am Team US soundtrack. Loved that music since I was a kid. I would put the PC game into CD players to hear the soundtrack.

Love your vids because too many people don't actually understand what makes Sonic great and just talk about speed and mascot games. You actually discuss control, level design, and flow.

Any chance of doing the 8 Bit Sonic titles reviews?

Well now I'll never feel the need to do a Sonic CD video review, because you voiced all my sentiments exactly. It's a seriously flawed game with great ideas and sloppy level design, but, shoot, it's a 16-bit Sonic game.

As for the slower level design and exploration, perhaps I'm crazy, but I prefer that over Sonic 2's linearity.

This is probably why I prefer CD to the other 16-bit games. I mean, yeah, the layout in some levels could have been better (and Wacky Workbench is straight-up hell, etc.), but I always saw Sonic as a platformer more than I saw it as GOTTA GO FAST. I just think there's more to do in Sonic CD than in most of the other games, save for possibly S3K.
