TL;DR version:

How does one replace the CDDA tracks in an ISO/BIN/IMG/CUE?

History:

So I have a PSP. I'm emulating PSX games. CDDA audio is not supported on the newer versions of the built-in emulator, but using "POPSLoader" one can run the older emulators and get it working.
However, the older emulators are not as good (no custom screen sizing). Apparently the newer versions support something else (likely ATRAC3). Nobody has achieved this yet, but I would like to have a go at replacing the CDDA tracks in a PSX ISO with ATRAC3 versions to see if it'll work with the newer emulators.

I understand that the LBA addresses/times will be thrown off in a CUE file.

GeneHF has demonstrated being able to replace CDDA tracks here, http://forums.sonicr...ndpost&p=554339 but didn't describe the process.

I've Googled a lot and haven't found anything concrete enough except above Sonic Retro post.

Hope you can help.

Kind regards,
Kroc Camen.

Problem is, if you're intending to convert your game to EBOOT format afterwards, you need to find a conversion tool that's capable of handling external audio files, as well as one that understands ATRAC3.

I too had been hoping more research and work would be done on the newer PSX EBOOT formats with the compressed audio, but I'd imagine that most people have lost interest because "PSP iz old lolz" and they tend to just play the games on their Android devices these days.

If we swap the raw CDDA data in the CD-image and adjust the CUE sheet accordingly, then it should work as the EBOOT converter doesn't actually decode or play the CDDA tracks, it just copies them as-is, ignorantly.

It's sad that there's no PSP development going on anymore. Every /vr/ thread that crops up about which is the best emulation device always ends with the PSP. It's cheap, easily modded and has actual controls you'd want to use. I love my PSP, but I'm not a C coder and can't do anything about the situation.
