Untitled Sonic the Hedgehog Hack Don't judge a hack by the name it doesn't have...

I've started to do an ASM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog to convey some ideas I've had for a while. It's still heavy under development, so there's some missing DAC samples, incomplete or garbled levels, unedited art, ect.

Here you go.

This looks really cool! I like the art style a lot, and the third screenshot there looks pretty swell! Even if it's basic I like where you're going with this. :)

I'll get around to downloading this and giving it a small run some time tomorrow and let you know what I think of that then~

Nice hack so far, some rough edges of course, but the art is pretty decent. I especially like that Crystal Cave Zone for its art, the Sky High music you have for it works well! I will say though, although the layout looks fine, it's a little grudging. I ran into a few enemies off screen due to a tad bit of poor object placement.

But all in all, it's a nice start, well done!

Also, just a suggestion here, have you considered having the shield's graphics flip over every frame? That'll make it appear somewhat transparent.

EDIT: Oh hey! I just noticed, Sonic bounces on water! That's pretty spiffy!

It's a good start indeed. I especially like the shades of pastel colours in Green Hill, and what you've done with the orbinaut is great and devious.

Also, what MJ said about flipping the shield vertically every frame, it would really be a nice effect.

This cartoony art style looks very original and awesome!

For a name, how about Sonic Animated? It would fit with the vibe I am seeing, especially with the new animations for Sonic.

Almost! Perhaps if you made the circle one pixel larger, the shifting left/right would appear less obvious. But it's all cool and easily ignorable =P

Crap... I've tried to do it in my graphics editor, but I accidentally messed the frames up and it got garbled. So, I used my backup. However, the backup was the file I first posted here (A.K.A. the still shield). So, I might try again soon.

Because in the General Project Screenshot/Video Thread, you were the first one to think of a name (even though I probably won't use it due to the other zones not having quite as bright colors).

This hack looks far too good to not have a name. I'm really looking forward to progress on this one. I'm not much a graphics person, so I'm insanely jealous of your skills.

Stealing Borrowing from RGamer2009 here... and masking evident plagiarism tweaking it a lil' bit.

Let's call this one of 3 possible names:

Sonic Reanimated - my personal choice.
Sonic Reanimation - Maybe stylize the text as RE-Animation
Sonic Animations - A play off of Generations... cuz why not?

Oh please no... Not "re" names... =$

"Sonic Animated" is a nice touch, it's unique and different.
