I did just buy most of the sega related pc engine games for scanning, plus a handful of others. Also got most of the LD-ROM2 exclusives.

How are you defining "general" because while I would lend my services to the games side of things... that's not really what NEC are famous for.

Also there'll be thousands of pages just for games. You've got the PC Engine (and CD) and PC-FX, but there's also all the 80s computers - the PC-8001, PC-6001, PC-8801, PC-9801, all the variants and of course all the stuff NEC published for other systems during the 90s.

You're right in that it's obviously not what NEC is famous for. :v:

But yes, I'm thinking the 80s computers through the PC-FX and maaaaybe MobilePro.

That reminds me, the original Thunder Force was on those 80s computers, I've always wanted to give that a go. I once considered that it would be a good project to port it to master system or mega drive so as to have the complete series on sega products (although this would also have to involve porting VI to dreamcast =P).

Oh it's an untapped goldmine for first showings of things. I don't think anybody in the West has dug very far below the surface (and even in Japan the documentation is sketchy).

It might be easier to think of it as the Japanese equivalent of doing a "Commodore Retro". Where your PC-88 is the Commodore 64 and the PC-98 is the Amiga, etc.

Is it wrong that I'm not intimidated, then? :P If anything, I think of this as a slightly more sane project than DOCUMENT AN ENTIRE MULTINATIONAL COMPANY.

Goddamnit, now you've got me browsing the PC-88/PC-98 and Sharp X1/X68000 categories on YAJ.

I didn't think it was possible for 5.25 inch floppies to be cool

I've browsed some of what of those game libraries were dumped earlier.

I ended up really bugging out "Nintendo Golf" by Hudson Soft.

Oh don't get me wrong it's a wonderful idea and I want to throw images at it.

Just don't expect it to be done exceedingly quickly - there were lists of Mega Drive games :v:/>

Also, and this won't be nice but

You might have to take a Wikimedia Commons approach with some of this. It seems silly to host things on Sega Retro and then duplicate them on... "NEC Retro" (which I might start calling "Neck-retro" if it happens because abbreviations smell) .

Updated with another alternative version that is particularly rare - possibly a Japanese release of "Road Prosecutor" (as opposed to the regular "Road Blaster"), or maybe just another sample/demo disc in a dodgy homemade slip? Or maybe a beta/test disc

EDIT: Just checked the front of the disc and it says "Road Blaster"

Note: I don't own this, I was just made aware of it by a guy who used to own it.
