I just bought them myself all on my lonesone. They're currently with Nemmie.
I figured I might ask for donations when they get released, as a 'Hey, if you enjoyed this, send me a couple of bucks in appreciation, because I just spent about $10,000 on a Mega LD collection whose value is now set to plumet now that I've made them available for you to play for free"

Don't release them until you've got your money back. Do it sporadically if you have to but don't take a big loss like that. After $x.xx is raised, ________ gets released and so forth. I was actually contemplating doing this, hence my inquiry, but you beat me to it.

I just don't see that happening. There's nothing really that interesting in the Mega LD catalogue that anyone would shed bucket fulls of money to get the dumps. I'd be lucky to get a few hundred dollars of appreciation, but I don't think it's going to work to hold them at ransom until I get all my money back. The community interested in them isn't that large or generous (and there is no Sonic LD title).
I'll probably sell the inferior Myst proto, and try and get some money back on that. Probably not a lot of interest in it now as I think the word is getting around that they're getting dumped.
EDIT: Maybe I can write it off as a 'donation' on my tax return. Can we get Sega Retro registered as a charitable organisation?

That's cool that you bought that yourself eggfan. Hope you scan the LD's for the wiki.

Just to be clear, I didn't buy the $15,000 collection advertised above. I've amassed my own Mega LD collection over the last few years for almost the same amount of money (mostly cos of the pricey Myst protos amounting to about $5000, but Time Gal and Road Prosecutor weren't exactly cheap either).
All I am missing 3D Virtual Australia (which I'm still searching for), and the other demo discs (which are supposedly identical to the final versions anyway. There is also another mythical proto called "Legacy" of which we have reports of only one known prototype disc owned by a Japanese hoarder.
I've already scanned the covers, discs and manuals, and am in the process of cropping them for Sega Retro. I plan on bundling the scans with the dumps as well - just think that's a nice idea. I always like it when I pirate a music album that the cover scans are included too.

I'll still be making a donation (sorry for the delay), unfortunately I'm "between jobs" at the moment, so have had to cut back on this hobby for the time being. Anyway, I should hopefully be starting a new job soon, so my finances should be in a better position to help with things like this in the not too distant future.
