I loved his MegaDrive box-art for the Sonic games. Sad to see him go.
R.I.P. Greg and thanks for your contribution to my nostalgia.

My point is, the Sonic was coloured and completed, then used across a bunch of Sega media. Good chance the rest of the image was done at some point too.

Both of those pics you linked to show a different shading, though, so chances are that none of them were taken from a finished version of this illustration (I mean, might be somebody else's work).

The basement of the house I grew up in had several Megadrive/Genesis posters including Greg's cover art for the Sonic games. My siblings and I liked to sit on the couch underneath and pull our favorite Sega titles off the shelf to read the manual or check out the art on the covers when we weren't playing them.
R.I.P. Greg, you added a lot of colorful moments to my childhood with your artwork.

I'd be interested in seeing any of them finalized, not so much to use them for something, but because I've never been able to wrap my head around replicating the process he went through coloring these, especially a digital recreation since he did everything by hand.

While I never knew his name until now, his artwork was and still is very important to me. I love Classic Sonic and the great artwork of his and would love looking at the box/manuals of Sonic games. When I was older, In the early 2000s, it was a real treat to use the internet and rediscover classic Sonic artwork whether it be for a game or advertisement. Rest In Peace.

Promotional post card that Greg once sent me. The back is damaged. It was once attached to something.

I knew I'd seen that Sonic art with the maze in the background:

it's from Amazing Sonic, the craptacular LCD game

From the originals here are a couple my daughter and I both enjoy. This will give you some idea as to size.
