Creative Assembly's secret Alien game will be called Alien: Isolation and revolve around Amanda Ripley, daughter of the Ellen Ripley character made famous by actress Sigourney Weaver, an anonymous source-based report has revealed.

Isolation will apparently be a first-person shooter that combines stealth and horror to achieve something akin to Dishonored and BioShock, Kotaku learned.

Isolation is apparently on course for a current and next-gen console release (and presumably also PC) at some point next year.

Isolation will attempt to sweeten the bad taste left by Sega and Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines game earlier this year. Already Isolation has apparently been delayed to ensure the quality is up to scratch, missing a planned E3 2013 summer reveal.

Kotaku's information was unearthed earlier in the year, so it's a few months old. It was sat on until the details could be corroborated. Twentieth Century Fox's recent trademarking of the name Alien: Isolation provided Kotaku the nudge it needed to spill the beans.

Creative Assembly's Alien game was announced way back in spring 2011, so the studio could attract attention and beef out the console team making it - a separate team to the Total War team. Details have been incredibly scarce ever since, presumably so as not to confuse the project with Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Sega hasn't responded to our request for comment.

The Creative Assembly is a good developer, though they mostly make Total War RTS games. It'll be interesting to see them do a stealth/horror FPS in the style of Bioshock and Dishonored. An Alien game in that style sounds like it could be cool at least.

I still wish the Aliens RPG wasn't canceled.

I like the Alien franchise and was quite upset at the fuckery that was ACM, so I'm looking forward to this... If it comes out on Wii U...

I like the idea of a survival horror Alien game, in the vein of a playable Alien rather than a shooting gallery. Those shots look really nice.

Only one Alien? I hope he's mistaken.

He's not mistaken. They're trying to make it more like the first movie, it's also more like an Amnesia-style horror game than an action game.

The first movie did only have one Alien in it. I've never played Amnesia so that comparison means nothing to me. I have played the first Clock Tower though, so hopefully the Alien keeps up the pressure like how Scissorman does in that game.

The first Amnesia and the side story are awesome. Haven't tried the sequel yet.
