Also I agree there should be more questions with Crackers/Chaotix, like why was Sonic swapped with Knuckles, etc. Even if we know the answer to some of the questions, it'd be nice to hear an answer from someone else.

Sonic being swapped with Knuckles?

If I'm not mistaken, Crackers also loads a palette for Knuckles' and Vector under Sonic & Tails'. If anything, I'd ask some questions regarding that.

I have one more question to add to your pile of potentially asked questions Nik. I doubt Hoshino-san had any involvement in the following question but you never know. He usually had some sort of involvement in nearly everything that involved his characters.

Kazuyuki Hoshino:

Were you at all involved in the Original Video Animation "Sonic the Hedgehog: Journey to Eggmanland" and "Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic VS Metal Sonic" as one of the Production Directors along side Yuji Naka & Naoto Oshima of Sonic Team? If so, what were your responsibilities as a Production Director?

Also anime-related (and since it curiously featured some Sonic CD music), I'd also ask him if he knows what was really behind that "Man of the Year" short; if it was a pilot for an unrealized series, just a short made for a specific event, which studio animated it... any info or story behind it that he can remember, really.

This question could be made to anybody who was at the Sonic Team by that time, by the way, so feel free to reuse it. =|

uno10 wants to ask jun a question concering the song "what I'm made of.

'What I'm Made Of' was initially supposed to be the main theme for Sonic Heroes before it was rejected and a new, up-beat theme song was composed instead. However, during development of Heroes, Iizuka found that the theme did not fit for the final boss, so you decided that you would finish "What I'm Made Of" for the sake of having a more appropriate...

theme for the final boss. However, since WIMO was meant to be the original SH theme, the lyrics seem to describe the entire game story, rather than Metal Sonic himself. Did you not have time to redo the lyrics to fit with Metal's character?"

As far back as you can remember, can you describe what 'R2', or the scrapped level of Sonic CD looked like, and what the boss would have been?

Any funny jokes, and fond memories you remember in your career as a game developer?

Did you met Michael Jackson?

Did all that info come from him or any official source? If not, I'd rather just let him explain what happened with the main themes himself...

I'm curious about Masato Nakamura in regards to Generations. Obviously he got some loyalties for the use of his compositions, but did he like the remixes? Has he even heard them? Was he approached to remix them himself but couldn't due to scheduling/financial reasons? Always kinda wondered.

Here's one for Senoue:

"Which of your other works on video game soundtracks are you most proud of aside from Sonic?"

Yup, what Cinossu said above - the interviews have now taken place. I'll be transcribing and posting them on the front page this week, so keep an eye out for them!

With the last part of this question, Jun answered it last year - he'd hoped to get Nakamura involved, but he wasn't available.

Since the majority of fans seem to credit and praise you for every single piece of music produced in a Sonic game (even when you haven't been involved with most games nowadays) do you feel that people like Tomoya Ohtani and Kenichi Tokoi alongside others who have been working on the game soundtracks since 2006 are not given much credit for their work due to your popularity over others?

I didn't need to ask this question (though I would have worded it in a rather more neutral tone), as Jun actually directly addressed this issue without prompting. His full answer will be in the front page interview, but essentially he does like to make sure that fans are aware of the work put in by Ohtani and Tokoi in particular.

D'oh, I was thinking this was for SoS and Sonic Boom for some reason, sorry. Thank you though Nik. :)

Somehow mistook this for Sonic Boom. Owell.

And in earlier games, it wasn't as well documented unless you got the original OSTs. Even then, people wonder why Jun only every touches a handful of songs from S3DB MD and Sonic 3 when fans assume he did the whole soundtrack for 3D Blast.

Jun's offerings in S3DB are just:
-Green Grove
-Panic Puppet 1/Intro
-Spring Stadium
-Special Stage
-Boss [Even Numbered Stages]
-I THINK Invincibility and Theme

Everything else in the game was done by Tatsuyuki Maeda. We wouldn't have known this if the tracks weren't conveniently tagged within the game's coding itself.

It's harder to gauge what Jun did in Sonic 3, and quite frankly, I don't think we'll ever be able to properly tag tracks on a composer basis (even with the ambiguous Michael Jackson fact.) But from knowing Jun's style thanks to S3DB and Sonic 4, a few stand out.

-Balloon Park
-S3 Theme and jingles
-Bonus Stages

I'd prod a little about R2 as well in Sonic CD, but I think we already have all there is about the level thanks to the dev video and Taxman (unfinished enemies, unfinished boss, concept art, and that what few assets there were of the level were split up and thrown into other levels.)

This shit right here is my main concern. Do we know know if this got asked?

Windy Valley redesign isn't that big a mystery to me since it will likely end up being that it was a test level turned inspiration for Windy Valley final. The unfinished sprites for a cut level of Sonic CD? That's a huge fucking deal in my mind. We've done nothing but speculate since the late 90s and I think its time we got an answer.

If it's not been asked, then I highly advise everyone flood Sega's Q&A box with it for Boom.

At least, we should guarantee an interesting question gets in over the inane garbage the rest of the fanbase asks. Always the same SA3 bullshit.

But like I said, I don't think there's much else to know about it. Then again, we've never asked Hoshino, but I'm not hopeful for anything new.

He doesn't appear to have a strong memory for prototype things. I brought Sonic CD stuff along for if he was receptive to the Windy Valley question (I opened with this because it was a bit more recent), but not even nearly. Sorry guys.

Not horribly surprising. Can't expect a person to remember something that didn't even materialize further than sketches and a few miscellaneous sprite objects, especially after 20 years.

Worth a shot, regardless! :eng101:
