Even the official JP site looks similar to the P4 site. The italian trailer (not the UK one however) actually says straight up that it's set in the Persona universe.
Spoiler

You know what? I'll bite. I first heard of Persona back in 2011/12 time and I haven't really done much research in to detail and I'm definitely not starting collection up but I suppose I should look in to it or watch some LP's of it.
In your own words, folks. What is great about it, should I invest my time to it and is there things I should know/order to watch?

Well, you can ignore Persona 1 and 2. Not that they're bad games, but they're pretty different from what Persona is now. Each main Persona game is stand-alone, you don't need to have played one for the other to make sense. Persona 3 and 4 do take place in the same world, but all of the characters and locations are different. The only real connections are some cameos, specifically during one segment in the game's latter half.
However, most of Persona 4's spin-off games aside from Dancing All Night feature Persona 3 characters and story spoilers, so it is better to have played the game before playing those. Also, the main games are pretty long. It takes about 70 hours to finish one of them.
As for which game you should play or watch: Persona 3 is serious with some light heartedness and Persona 4 is light heartedness with some seriousness. If you're going to watch an LP instead of playing it yourself, Giant Bomb's Endurance Run of Persona 4 is great.
Oh, and there's also a game called Catherine that you should maybe check out. It's by the same team and pretty good.
