Retro Consoles Wiki
Hey everyone, I wanted to share with you all a new wiki I've started that I hope you will find to be a valuable resource. It's called Retro Consoles Wiki, and its goal is to collect all the scattered information from across the Internet on the topics of repairing and modifying all video game consoles. Another major part is the collection of hi-res pictures of all motherboards and other components, along with links to documentation for each chip and schematics when possible. All consoles, including non-retro ones and old gaming computers will be included: everything from individual Pong consoles to the Game.com to the Xbox One will eventually be included. Here are some sample pages that give an idea of what we're trying to accomplish:
Sega Genesis Hardware (list of all Genesis/Megadrive motherboards and ICs)
Guide to lubricating the laser in a 3DO FZ-10
Guide for disassembling a Sega Saturn
In addition to hardware articles, I also want there to be pages for programming information, which is one of the reasons I'm coming to you guys. The Sonic community for sure has the most in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of the Genesis/Megadrive
As the site is only a couple weeks old, we are currently hosted by Wikia, but I will move to paid hosting if the wiki starts to gain steam. We have only a few contributors at the moment and I'm the only one who's written any guides so far, but the wiki is steadily adding content on a daily basis and currently has 121 pages and 316 photos. I invite you all to join and contribute your knowledge or just be aware of the site's existence. I want this to be a useful resource for everyone, and so please feel free to give me feedback or suggestions. Oh and by the way, the name I go by on the wiki is ITEM-3.
