I've been thinking of getting a X-Box myself for the same reason, so this thread's been pretty useful. It's a shame that the 360's backwards compatibility is so broken, because otherwise I'd just get a 360 and save the space.

Took a punt on this and won
http://www.ebay.com....tm/140986151859
I'm assuming that since it's hard-modded/chipped and has xbmc installed, I can use the soft reset trick to force Orta into 480p mode, regardless of the revision of the underlying codec.
Does this also allow VGA output? That's better than component, or is it? I'm looking to buy a cable now.
Now some more questions?
What's house of the dead 3 like, is the xbox lightgun support any good? I've never heard anything about it before.
Anything wrong with the JSFR/Sega GT 2002 combo disc (apart from the horrid cover art)? Seems like a good deal with the additional promo videos for shits and giggles.
Does Shenmue II offer anything over the Dreamcast pal release?
Toejam and Earl 3 worth getting, or is it going to destroy treasured childhood memories?
Project Gotham Racing 1 and 2, are they completely different games, or is 2 a revision or 1. Are they both worth getting?
Is spikeout any good? Can't say I've ever warmed to the series in the past.
Anything else I'm missing from a sega/dreamcast standpoint?
EDIT: Also, is getting a memory card important? I'm assuming I just use the internal hard drive for games saves and stuff.
Current hit list:
Panzer Dragoon Orta
JSRF/Sega Gt 2002
Outrun 2
Gunvalkyrie
Crazy Taxi 3
Shenmue II
Project Gotham 1 and 2
Halo 1 and 2
Psychonauts
Otogi
Ninja Gaiden Black

VGA requires a certain bios, there might be some info here:
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=677152
as well as a custom adapter.
also;
Psychonauts - no question, get it. Awesome game, and it's significantly more playable than the PS2 version (PS2 ver has a relatively unsteady and low framerate, and your character's shadow doesn't appear beneath you so you can't judge jumps very well)
Outrun 2 - fantastic port of the arcade version. Far less forgiving than Coast 2 Coast, so be prepared for a challenge
Crazy Taxi 3 - more of the same like 1 and 2, just different cars/drivers/maps. I think it has a jump feature or something, if that wasn't already implemented in one of the previous titles (it's been a while)
Project Gotham Racing - I somehow overlooked the entire PGR series until Blur was made (Blur was Bizarre's last racer; a FANTASTIC game which never received the notoriety it deserved, and Activision killed Bizarre shortly afterward). Every PGR game is an evolution of the previous one, it's probably worth just getting both, though, so you can see the series' roots. The whole concept of the games is mastering skilled driving techniques and performing tricks and shit for "kudos" (points)... worth checking out if you enjoy arcade/unique racing games
JSRF - I personally like it more than the first game on DC; other people criticize it for simplifying the tagging process, but it feels like a bigger, more complete game in general.
Sega GT 2002 - initially expected this game to be a spiritual successor of Super GT/SCUD Race, but was sorely disappointed when I found out it was just a mediocre simulation racer ala Gran Turismo (apparently its predecessor, "Sega GT" was a Dreamcast title... which would explain why I never knew about it). Relatively unremarkable, it doesn't do anything that Forza or Gran Turismo do better.
Orta - A lot of fun, very solid.
Halo - I personally hate FPS games, and I suck at them to boot... but the series allegedly has decent gameplay and a pretty big storyline. I remember watching a friend play some of Halo 3 a while back and it kept me interested as he progressed; I kept asking questions about what was going on and he kept getting annoyed because I didn't have the first two games as a frame of reference lol

I want to assume it will kill your childhood. It also has DLC. I remember Bartman saying that thankfully all the DLC (is that right?) is on some kind of demo disc since the original Xbox servers are all gone.
But I mean, collect it if you want. Even YouTube is barren about the game and only one person has done a complete playthrough of it if I remember correctly.

It's not awful but it's kinda janky and lacks a lot of the original game's charm.
