A bit disappointing this isn't the Taxman port, but if this comes to the US it'll be a nice addition to the 3DS Virtual Console, which is really lacking in the US (no Super Mario Bros 3? Really?).
I'm kind of hoping Sonic CD will appear on it sooner or later, unless there's technical barriers.

You know what, I think I may pick this up, especially considering I won't have to pay for the Taxman/Stealth remake on my iPod. Also, it will mean I get a better version of Sonic 1 to play on my 3DS than on Classic Collection.

I'm actually kinda looking forwards to this. The '3D Classics' treatment was enough for me to replay Kid Icarus, and normally I have a hard time justifying re-buying a game I've already bought. Then again, I am a bit of a sucker for the 3D layering effects. Either way, it'll be nice to have a go on a handheld version of Sonic 1 that's got something a little more enhanced over the original (and er... isn't Sonic Genesis...)
I'm wondering if decent sales of this title would open the floodgates for future 3D Sonic re-releases, or if Sega are keeping this strictly 'early SEGA classics'.?

I'm interested in this, but I'm more hyped for Space Harrier 3D in fact. I just hope this releases in the west and proes to SEGA that us westeners are also willing to buy their 3D classics, so they release them all here.
Also, Sonic 1 3D means no After Burner 3D or Out Run 3D

Out Run 3D
it does go to show how the lack of imagination at Sega HQ. Space Harrier 3D and 3D Space Harrier, because obviously, there's no other games which could get this treatment and naming things is hard!

Is the new one a remake of Space Harrier, or Space Harrier 3D? Because if it's the latter, they could totally call it 3D Space Harrier 3D.

Actually have mixed opinions on this... For one,I feel that it's awesome to have anything 16 bit redone as a 3ds Classic... Because Nintendo hates us apparently. But then.... It is just Sonic 1. I love the game to death, it's high up on my top ten... But all I can think is that it's very unlikely they would do anything other then the first two. And even if they did release 3 and knuckles, it sure as heck wouldn't be lock on. Still am going to buy it if it makes it stateside for the added features. Space Harrier though... That's awesome!
