So I've been getting into collecting high quality Genesis reproduction carts lately, and I've been seeing the guys who make the repros are always stocking more copies of Squirrel King than anything else. Squirrel King is just one of those games that's up there with Alien Soldier and Monster World IV that'll always be in stock no matter what dude you go to for your repros.
Is it a good game? I mean, what the heck is the deal with it?

Besides translations, pirates are pretty popular for repros, and Squirrel King is one of the better ones. Lots of repro sellers have it probably because they know like many things they repro, people won't be able to find a copy elsewhere.
That Magic Warrior translation I did I'm sure you've probably seen a lot too. Sucks I don't see a dime :x

From what I know, It looks like a pirate port of that Chip n' Dale game that was on the NES. Another interesting tidbit is that Squirrel King is presumably the game the pirates hacked into that Super Mario Bros/World pirate.

Yeah I see that one all the time, shame you don't make money off it! These guys are charging like $40 a pop for these repros, it legit bothers me when they do repros of Sonic Retro rom hacks and I know the original hackers aren't getting any money off it. They have a few copies of of Sonic The Lost Worlds at Digital Press in Clifton, NJ.
