BT engineer called. Apparently there is a fault with our line, and will come over tomorrow between 1-6pm. Apparently we're getting signal loss in our line, that is what my text message said. Probably the old copper line struggling. This explains the download speed varying all the time, althoguh not sure why the upload is okay. Meh, watch this space.

Nice. All this talk of fibre makes me wish I had it at home. It's all well and good having it at work, but you can't whore Usenet etc at work quite as easily!
Having said that, despite being on some rural village exchange, I have the good fortune to be little more than a stones throw away from said exchange which means sync speeds of around 19mbit on ADSL2+. Not too bad I guess!
