That is not entirely fair. You are comparing a workstation number crunching card that that just so happens to be a fast gaming card. In its intended area it is more than 9 times faster than GTX 780.

Upper mid range is GTX 760 -GTX 760 Ti .
290X/780/ Titan would be High end-Enthusiast

well except nobody BUYS the titan for whatever you think it's intended for. It's literally reduced in the public eye to a gaming card. and $1k for a single GPU card is a joke. and 780 is still a lot more than the 290X and gets obliterated by it. so my point still stands.

I'd even say the 760 and 770 aren't overpriced. In terms of raw gaming power, yeah, you can get better value with AMD. But NVIDIA offers more than that. In my experience (though I've seen arguments on both sides here) I've had a much easier time with NVIDIA drivers than AMD drivers. When you buy NVIDIA you get features such as TXAA (even if few games support it yet), Adaptive VSync, and Shield streaming.

Out of curiosity, but how does the GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB compare? I'm still not sure on what card just yet, but I'll try to make my decision before the weekend rolls around, if possible. I doubt I'll go for the Ti Boost, though. I'm sure most of the games I want to play (and will play in the future) won't require any serious power.

Proof that nVidia has been ripping us off all along, they've made the 780 100$ cheaper.. (150 officially, but OEMs are somewhat reluctant to sell their cards at that MSRP) what a joke. Since the 290X is a load better it's STILL the better buy, and I don't think AMD has any intention of letting go of the high end market now that they've reobtained it...

And for the record, I must either be the smartest person on earth or everyone else is retarded, I haven't had a problem with AMD's drivers .... :P

Or you're sticking mostly to Direct3D and AAA games, both of which get priority giving-a-shit from AMD. Most of AMD's driver problems, in my experience, have been related to OpenGL.

That said, NVIDIA has been having issues with opengl and shaders lately. This seems to be a fairly new problem, but I don't know how long it'll take 'em to fix it.

The good news is with Steam Box and the general increasing interest in Linux gaming that's beginning to happen, OpenGL should be getting a lot more support from both Nvidia and AMD.

From what I'm reading up, the 7790 is somewhere between the 650 and 650 Ti, right? Out of curiosity, but what if I were to spend a bit more money to attempt to get the 650 Ti Boost 2GB? Would it be worth it? From what I can tell, the price gap isn't all that big. I do worry about the wattage, especially since calculators seems to be all over the place. From what I'm checking out though, it should be below the 500W range. Well, going by a couple (eXtreme and Newegg).

I'm still also looking for a 120mm case fan. From what I can tell, there's a bit of competition between the Noctua, Gentle Typhoon, and the Cougar brands. Though, can't say I'm a fan of the Noctua's fleshy color. Does any of you guys use these? How effective and quiet are they? Looking around, it seems like the Gentle Typhoon might be the best.

Oh, one more question. I asked earlier, but the CPU fan I already got should do the job in terms of cooling even with a video card, right? Just want to be sure.

Okay. I think I'm gonna order my stuff tomorrow or Sunday, that way they should hopefully get there sometime around next week if things go right. With that said, I'm thinking of going with the following.

Power Supply: Corsair GS600
Graphics Card: ASUS GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB
120mm Case Fan: Cougar CF-V12H Vortex

I'm still not 100% sure on the video card brand or the case fan, but from what I can tell, they're pretty good. I really want your opinion on these choices. Soon, preferably.

EDIT - Looks like Newegg raised the price on the PSU a bit. Also, depending on how my money looks, I might get an XBox 360 controller for the PC on Newegg. I cannot find one in any store in my area for some odd reason. Not even Gamestop has one.

Sorry to double post, but I managed to get the parts. It honestly, took a lot longer than it was supposed to get everything going. I ran into some complications, like the monitor staying in Power Save mode and what-not, but I managed to get everything fixed. So far, so good. Temperature on CPU is running between 40-47C right now (though it kind of jumps in the 50s from time to time), and the GPU somewhere between 33-35C while idle. It did come with a GPU Tweak system, but I don't think I need to mess with that right now. Overall, I'm happy with this. Hopefully I won't need to upgrade again for a while and won't run into any more problems. Guess all I need to do is try out some games on it.

I've got 2 GTX Titan signature overclocked cards over here... Drivers are solid and no complaints so far....As for price that doesn't matter for me as long as its not an ATI card which I hate with a passion because of the driver issues.
I get to toy around freely with the best of both graphic card worlds. I also don't like how shaders look on ATI cards for some reason, they just feel a little lower quality. I stuck with the titan over the 780Ti because of more memory for better performance over 3 1440P monitors. ( if it weren't for the memory I would have upgraded)
