I was playing Sonic Advance earlier, and it felt like the perfect title. All that was missing was Super Sonic in regular levels. That would warrant that extra level of replayability.

How would a Sonic Advance remake sound?

Do you literally mean sound? Like sound-chips and all? As for Sonic Advance, I feel like it doesn't need any sort of remake, even though it doesn't have Super Sonic(maybe one day someone can hack that in). It feels like a perfect handheld game, and it was more of a Sonic 4 than Sonic 4.

I'd rather they just continue the franchise too, but they'll screw it up anyway. At least remakes are usually hard to screw up...

Well because I still have my cart and I play it on my GBPlayer, I wouldn't want the remake myself, but one day I hope they release all three Sonic Advance games (along with other obscure titles) on to disc, maybe even titled Mega Collection 2. The Advance games are what bridge the gap between the MegaDrive games and the current 2D games. They document slight changes in physics and action from the bouncy badnik'd, less linear Advance all the way to the speed-oriented, bounceless and quicker movement style of Advance 3, which from there expanded to reduce the effects of landscape-influenced momentum and gave slightly floatier physics in the Sonic Rush games and later Sonic 4, which was then changed again to suit the classic style a bit better. For people not to experience them (and I know a lot of Sonic fans who somehow haven't) is well... disappointing, and perhaps if a lot of people had played the titles in order when they were released, changes that are now apparent when jumping from the classics to the current titles wouldn't have had such an impact, as the blows were softened over the years.

I think the Advance games being rereleased would fare very well actually. People are begging for physics and styles matching more closely to the orginals, which is why Ep II was such a hit. The Advance games would satisfy that craving.

Actually, the one game I WOULD like to be remade (for the very same reasons as Sonic CD was- poor emulation on different hardware, as Gems Collection showed) is Knuckles Chaotix. I played 5 minutes of it on PC using a keyboard and hated it, though I realise that now I perhaps didn't give it a chance because I knew I'd hate using my keyboard and sitting at my computer.

I'd like to actually own that game too.

Both literally and figuratively. I'm sure a Sonic Advance remake would have enhanced music instead of the GBA's strange pipe organ sounds. It would also have a bigger screen resolution, better sprite rotation and, hopefully, the ability to go Super Sonic in regular levels.

Am I the only one who doesn't fap to a regular basis over this idea? Should the Sonic Advance trilogy be remade for Big Screens ™ then this is one feature I could take or leave.

I love the pipe organ sound from the Advance games. I also like the techno style they went for in certain circumstances rather than having a regular drum beat. They add a little bit of uniqueness to the series, whilst still adding other influences and styles. It brings a bit of comedy, a bit of funk, and at some points, a bit of danger, or badassery:

What I don't want is for the music to be remixed like the Android version of Advances, it sounds so low quality. I'd prefer this in an update if it ever did happen:

Edit: Also, you're not the only one who'd love Super Sonic in the Advance games. That would be an awesome addition and would be more of an incentive to get the Chaos Emeralds. I got them all when I was 13 thinking I'd become Super. Though I can't complain because I did unlock the Super Sonic zone, Boss Attack, Sound Test, Tiny Chao Garden, and got every other character playing through the game. :v:

I suppose I'm lying to myself- if they rereleased Advance the way I want it I would get it, but I'd feel bad as I still have my actual cart.

I'm sure Advance 2 used the Amen Break for some of their music tunes like Knuckles boss music and Techno Base act 2 so it would not be hard to recreate that sound.

You're not the only one. In spite of my username, Super Sonic in regular stages isn't that big of a deal to me either. However, it would serve as more of an incentive to collect the Chaos Emeralds, especially in the case of 2 and 3 where getting them is extremely tedious.

Oh and,

I wouldn't want this either, but what would be nice is a higher quality remix of the invincibility theme from that version. You know, the intro song? That would be pretty cool IMO.

Jason, add the time-attack mode I want for each of the three-point-five games (I'd love to see that GG Sonic 2 remastered thingy too) and I have an erection. I love how you didn't default to "DURRR SPINDASH IN SONIC 1". You're good. ;)

Yes to the time attack. Also I agree about the spindash. It bugs the shit out of me when people say Sonic 1 is somehow flawed because of it having no spindash... and that Sonic 4 is better because of that one reason yeah, yeah, opinions and all that shite.. Fuck the spindash! If anything, through mastering Sonic 1 I've become a much better player of the other classics and almost never use the spin dash at all (unless it's absolutely essential). If you have an insatiable need for the spin dash, you're shit it's as simple as that.

Also... Chrome Gadget, Azure Lake, Balloon Park, Endless Mine and Desert Palace made into full zones would be absolutely awesome.

Nah, what you want is something more like this:

Concerning the Compeition zones, I would like a bit of expansion to the mode if a S3 remake came into play, since it was about the only thing not upgraded with the S+K lock on. A few extra mini zones to make an extra Championship would be nice, or even just giving Knuckles his full move set as was intended.

I've heard so many people say they want full versions of the Sonic 3 Competition zones, but I still don't understand why. Maybe it's because I grew up mostly playing the games on my own, but I personally think the VS. levels offer very little original content and the amount of effort that it would take to mould them into [entirely different] full zones, would probably be better spent elsewhere creating new content.

The way I see this, is that with the levels in their current state, there's very little reason why any extra abilities are needed in the first place. The VS levels are so small and linear that if you were to utilise Tails flying or especially Knuckles gliding/climbing, it would probably just slow you down. Especially with the many players who would use the actions accidentally.

I think it would be a good thing to expand the VS levels, and adding Knuckles' full move set, providing there was a VS mode where you could choose any level in 3K. I'd like the original Competition levels too. Why? Because why the fuck not. Shit the alcohol just kicked in and I can't remember the rest of what I was going to say. IT WAS GOOD THOUGH! ...Possibly...

I agree. The levels aren't very interesting- they're all based off some trope or another from Sonic 1, 2 or 3 already anyway. They offer nothing unique other than their graphics, which are similar to other levels.

Azure Lake is similar to Marble Gardens and Aquatic Ruins. We've also just had Sylvania Castle too.

Balloon Park is basically just Carnival Night but adorned with elephant caricatures.

Chrome Gadget is a Scrap Brain styled track with visuals similar to Stardust Speedway Bad Future.

Desert Palace is basically Sandolplis but with a layout similar to Aquatic Ruins.

Endless Mine is Mystic Cave with a bit of Hidden Palace.

It would be all a bit pointless to make them full levels.

If there were enemies in those stages (like in Sonic 2's 2-Player), Knuckles' glide-bounce could be an incredible advantage if used well.

Also, I want the Competition mode stages to be full VS stages, because I personally prefer having the Start-to-Finish on a decently sized stage aspect of the Sonic 2 2-Player, rather than Sonic 3's multiple laps on a small horizontal looping track (which I found less fun). The advantage they have over the Sonic 2 2-Player, is the fact that they are (to some degree) original, even if they do borrow aspects/tropes from the other stages. So why not expand them for VS play?

I would like to also reiterate the idea of using the scrapped Sonic 2 stages (Wood Zone, Hidden Palace, etc) as 2-Player race stages for Sonic 2. What do you guys think of something like that?
