You could also open it up and look up the EPR/MPR number on IC4.

Well I don't have any Genesis consoles, but I do have a modswitched Asian one... Somewhere. Despite living in the UK, I never owned a EU MD, always considered the white detailing and smaller "16-Bit" logo a little ugly.
Failing that I'm probably putting switches in these JP ones eventually, too so I can test it out then.
