I'm pretty certain the Master System ones exist in the final game, I only have dount with the first game gear one...mostly beacuse I always play the Master System version over the game gear one, but I think I know where that screenshot is located too. They were just too small and crappy quality to identify them at first.

Not feeling like making another thread and technically there's a prototype screenshot in this one (the prototype Sonic 2 title screen). Since SOST is cleaned up now I may as well take advantage of it to ask for something:

Does anybody have a better scan of this pic? That one is completely damaged and written all over it (blame my baby self =P). I don't even remember how I found it after several years (which is how it ended up at SOST). And now I lost it again anyways...
Whatever, for reference, this ad was in the April 1993 issue of magazine Descubrir (that had absolutely nothing to do with gaming, for the record). It may have also appeared in other magazines. And before somebody makes the same mistake again: it's from Argentina, not Brazil. If somebody can hunt down that ad and make a better scan, it'd be nice, especially since part of the text is missing
PS: yes, the text at the bottom refers to Tails as female.

Shit! I used to have that SAME add on a science magazine! But now, it got lost! The sad thing is that now I have an scanner.

If my memory doesn't trick me, the magazine is called 'Descubrir'. It was from January/April 1993. (I don't remember). It had this same add on Page 2. The bad thing about this, is that it more likely, got lost/trashed, so I'm not able to find.

@ReBirFh: that one is indeed much clearer, though it's cut =/ That ad spawned two pages there? The one I scanned was just one page.
EDIT: and just to make it clear, I'm looking for entire scans, not partial ones. The screenshots really don't show anything new...

This ad was very common in Brazillian Magazines, you can find this (probably with better quality) and more in old Brazilian gaiming magazines.
If someone wants to research, those magazine scans are your best bet:

In any case we'd still need to find the Argentinean one though, which is in Spanish =/

We can always delete the brazilian text and write the spanish one over it, as we have it in poor quality. restoration!

Lots of beta screenshots in this magazine, all the screenshots have already been documented on the Wiki, but it kinda seems like a time line in development. Nice research btw, very interesting.
edit: actually the screenshots on the wiki are definitely from the same magazine, but these scans are slightly better quality. Makes me wish I was old enough in 1991 to care about reading gaming magazines. =P

Sonic The Fighters reveal, from the UK's Computer and Video Games Magazine issue 174, May 1996. Also hints at Sonic X-Treme and Sonic 4.

The bit at the bottom of the Sonic the Fighters article first page: Is that a level in Fighting Vipers? Because it looks a lot like a sort of green Hill zone. Also that Emerald Hill zone on page 2 looks nice. Also on page 4 the two new characters are bean and Bug. I assume Bug is just supposed to be Bark, but still.

They probably just confused バーク (bark) with バグ (bug), for some reason.

Here, I made them bigger. Feel free to post 'em on the wiki if you want to.
