Did they even try to get the original music for Crazy Taxi? Thank god I have the original game.

I'll just buy a DC copy of this game if the port has any serious issues.

What was wrong with the Space Channel 5: Part 2 port? And for that matter, licensing issues aside, the Crazy Taxi port?

You make it sound like it's no big deal.

Imagine SEGA changing the music in Sonic 1 forever since the Saturn days, due to them not bothering to pay Nakamura's royalties. Would you really ask "what's wrong with that?", in that case? =P

Yea, Offspring's wailing is kinda part of the Crazy Taxi experience. It feels off without it.

Crazy Taxi without the music and the real life locations is just a hollow shell of itself.

If wonder if it'll later get a PC port. After all, the the DC Collection got ported over to Steam.

This might be just the first announcement of a new "Dreamcast Collection", by the way.

And now that I think of it, Chu Chu Rocket is another very possible candidate for a hypothetical new compilation, since it's been ported to Android platforms very recently (just a couple of months ago).

I didn't buy the Crazy Taxi port either due to the lack of Offspring and real world locations, but at least the port actually had widescreen and seemed to be bug-free.

Dear SEGA: I want it to have all the music from the original soundtrack. Thank you.

Pff. That's only half the soundtrack. Here's the track list from that album:

Hideki Naganuma - Let Mom Sleep
Hideki Naganuma - Humming the Bassline
Hideki Naganuma - That's Enough
Richard Jacques - Everybody Jump Around
Hideki Naganuma - Sneakman
Reps - 'Bout the City
Castle Logical - Mischievous Boy
Hideki Naganuma - Sweet Soul Brother
Hideki Naganuma - Rock it On
F-Fields - Yellow Bream
Toronto - Electric Tooth Brush
B.B. Rights - Funky Radio
Hideki Naganuma - Moody's Shuffle
Hideki Naganuma - Grace & Glory

Hideki Naganuma - Jet Set Medley (credits medley)
Toronto - Jet Set Station (level start jingle)
Hideki Naganuma - Jet Set Groove #1 (level clear jingle)
Hideki Naganuma - Jet Set Groove #2 (game over jingle)

Now, all of Naganuma's music is a given. The music was produced for Sega, specifically for this game. Richard Jacques' track is also probably a given. And we've heard Funky Radio on the trailer already, plus it would be dumb to not include the song that has the damn words "Jet Set Radio" in it. The other select few tracks... who knows.

Much more worrying are the rest of the tracks, which weren't included in the original soundtrack album, and were originally selected from albums which had already been released in Japan at the time. These are:

Deavid Soul - Miller Ball Breakers
Deavid Soul - Yappie Feet*
Deavid Soul - Up-Set Attack!
Deavid Soul - Dunny Boy Williamson Show*
Deavid Soul - On The Bowl (A. Fargus Mix)
Guitar Vader - Magical Girl
Guitar Vader - Super Brothers
Idol Taxi - O.K.!? House!!!!!?????

These tracks have a high probability of not showing up, which is a damn shame because "Magical Girl" is absolutely essential as the theme of Gum. And "Super Brothers" for the battle against the Poison Jam. And "Up-Set Attack!" for the first level and the race against Yo-Yo. And "Miller Ball Breakers" for that one Benten-cho level. And hell all the other ones, too.

I don't give a shit about the US tracks, though.

*The track "Dunny Boy Williamson Show" by Deavid Soul was only ever used in the original Japanese version of Jet Set Radio. Every version of the game that followed replaced it with the track "Yappie Feet" by the same artist for no apparent reason, including De La Jet Set Radio.

Guitar Vader might be alright with letting Sega reuse their songs though. They do owe a significant chunk of their current success to their exposure from JSR after all.

Saw them live in 2005, awesome band :D

Ten in 2010, Them & Us, Inner Logic and Hear It from Crazy Taxi are all great and Amercian Jesus is also an awesome song. Love the album The Gray Race.

Seriously, if this doesn't have every single song from the original, it just won't be anywhere near as good. The soundtrack made Jet Set Radio.

Seconding the wishful thinking of JSR eventually coming to Steam. It is my only request.

So Jet Set Radio has been officially confirmed by Sega for an XBLA/PSN release. And they're hosting an art contest where the winner will get 2 early copies of the game, a beverage shaker, a JSR Hoodie, and a Bluetooth + Solar Powered sound system!
Time to change the thread description, OP.

You forgot that the best part: it's coming to PC as well. Also, widescreen.
