Better items, smaller carts with bigger characters, online multiplayer in the PC version, no announcer, a bigger variety of characters from various Sega titles, and tighter physics, and a $40 price tag.
That might get it to be a day-one purchase for me.

A SEGA PR Team character that has a few of them knocking about in a car (a la Chu Chu Rocket rep) would be amazing. The All-Star move could be AAUK coming out of nowhere and Wrecking into everyone, nyohohoho.
I've a feeling that all it will be is the same game with additional content they wanted to expand the game with as DLC. At least whatever was in the cards before, including Toe Jam and Earl.
Above all else, the game has serious balancing issues, and game-breaking mechanics that must be attended to.

Theres quite a few issues with the game, actually. Not to mention characters like Shadow are almost untouchable since all characters achieve the same boost speed through powersliding, making the heavier characters effectively useless.
I'll be thoroughly disappointed if this is nothing but a $50 patch.
