What about positioning? Does it matter at all in this game? Can I avoid attacks simply by dodging or is it based on luck?

Oh cool, so there has to actually be physical contact.

Hunters now have the ability to dodge and rangers and force have the ability to roll away from attacks. You can also block attacks and pull it off just in the right timing to make a counter attack.
As you probably already know, Rangers now play more like Lost Planet and feel great in gameplay. Over the shoulder view can be activated for them and is pretty much a must. I'm uploading a character creation video now.

Here's 10 minutes of my first clueless character creation.

Kinda unrelated to this Alpha or the test itself, but I've been trying to get the music out of the first Alpha client. Like Generations/Unleashed/Colors, they keep music in .cpks and reference them in .csbs. They use ADX files instead of AAX files though, but with type 9 encryption. It's been recently broken, so you can extract the adx files from the cpk files and play them with vgmstream now. But the music is all fragmented, and the parts don't seamlessly play when put together (they don't have a cut off at the end). I think the only way to play them is to use CRI's audio player and open the CSB files instead. The only problem with this is that the CSB seem to be a different format. I can't get them to load them in CRI's tools, although the tools themselves are several years old now. The CPK files work fine though.
I wish I had the Alpha 2 client though...

Beta sign ups are already available, if you were in Alpha 2 and reached level 10 you're automatically in the beta.

Me myself? I can't wait, seriously amazing game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Sega made a good move. <3
Also are there details on signing up for the beta? Especially for someone who isn't Japanese? I really want to get my hands on this game now.
EDIT: I think I got it. They'll send e-mails confirming access near the end of April.

For anybody who wishes to sign up for the beta, check out this link:

I'd also recommend the site for any PSO2 news, great site that update minutes after an announcement.

Just saying that I currently run a PSO2 forum, I'm sorry if it's advertising but we have a CHARACTER CREATOR THREAD. Seriously though, if you're interested in the game I'd recommend joining as it's going to have a lot more activity along with the IRC I have had since a2 in Beta.

I don't believe it's been mentioned, but this thread has a benchmark tool to determine how well you can run it. From what I've read if you had a decent computer in 2008, you can run this just fine.
Reference From Sega
★ Less than 2000: Please adjust your game settings because the processing load is quite heavy.
★★ 2000 through 5000: The game runs fine at the setting, if you have room, you can adjust some settings.
★★★ 5001+: The game works wonderfully at this setting.
Edit- Just downloaded the benchmark tool from the site, and inside the zip was the character creator setup so they must just be one and the same.
