Thanks a lot Ashram!

I'm really wondering how it would sound if the rest of the Modern songs had a boost version. Or what if Tropical Resort had a different Classic theme. Posted Image

I did a Genesis remake of it, a while back. Maybe it will give an idea of how it would have worked on the Genesis.

Check it.

I've given this one many a listen, and I've decided to compile a little list of observations:

-I'm not entirely sure why they kept the White Time-Space Boss themes off the first disc. There's just under 15 minutes of space left on disc 1 that these themes could have gone on.
-What's with the extensions of the two versions of "Run Through the Speed Highway"? It's obvious they looped them rather than let them finish natuarry. I don't mind the one in Cash Cash's remix, but in Senoue's version I find it really jarring. I removed it so that it's the same length as the Adventure OST.
-Maybe it's because they'd take up too much space, but why do we only get the Speed Shoes themes of Crisis City and Rooftop Run?
-Crisis City. Ah, in the original I felt the music was quite apocalyptic. The Act 1 remix is quite serious, but I find the Act 2 mix feels much more... celebratory than the original. Not in a bad way, mind, but it does cut down that apocalytic feel. I did like the use of the "Tornado" sax at the end.
-I really like White Time-Space's End Medley. I'd love to hear full versions of a couple of the themes Senoue covered on there - Crisis City, Rooftop Run and Planet Wisp especially.
-Title (Short Ver.)... was this meant for the 3DS version? I'd guess so as it's on the 3DS disc.
-The 3DS soundtrack... some of it sounds like it was actually being recorded through the 3DS.
-Wow, was that time-restraints or sheer laziness? They just straight-up used the original Back 2 Back and Tropical Resort tracks in the Act 1 themes.
-I get the feeling Senoue was going to do more Act 2 themes than he did.
-I'd love to see the "Title Demo" expanded in some way.
-Oddly enough, before the soundtrack was officially released, my own compilation of the game rips had a White Space Medley too. It was in different order.
-I'm not all that keen on lumping all the cutscene music together like that. The way I see it, music can tell a story. Previous Sonic soundtracks followed this logic, but Generations departs from this norm. Maybe because there's not much of a story to tell here...
-None of the New (I refer to them as "TARGET" as their filenames have that word in them) remixes were included. I'd guess that there were licensing issues involved.
-Neither the actual nor the unused 1-up themes were included. Seems a strange choice to even do the latter as it wasn't used in Adventure either.

Generations soundtrack...

Y U NOT ON ITUNES STORE YET :argh:

But seriously, I've bought the Sonic albums on iTunes for the best quality, and now I just need the Generations soundtrack. I love it! The games got such great music, and I've got the game rip version for all the extra songs (Toxic Caves etc), now I've gonna mix it together with the official soundtrack. and *boom* awesome soundtrack.

HA HA HA OH WOW

But seriously, it may be awhile before it gets on iTunes, if it does. In the meantime, this is the definitive Generations soundtrack.

Music from iTunes is in 128kbps AAC format. While it's in a lower bitrate, its basically a smaller version of an mp3 in v0.

iTunes does not provide music in the best quality if that's what you're implying. That is, unless you listen to music in FLAC, and iTunes doesn't even have support for that unless you convert it to ALAC which is Apple's version of FLAC.

To stay on topic though, the soundtrack is amazing. I've decided to keep all three 3 discs, especially the DS version of the game with Supporting Me and Big Arms.

iTunes does 256kbps now, but I'm not sure what format. Either way, still not the best.

But let's get back to the matter at hand. :v:

I got this soundtrack online from play-asia. It's US$ 49.49, which is probably a rip-off, but I got it anyway just for the awesome nostalgic music.

Not really, the three disc albums are usually expensive as tits. It all boils down to the shipping. I typically get the fastest shipping since I rip albums, and that makes things out to about $60-70 from CDJapan.

$55 is what people paid to get the album from Jun Senoue himself (shipping included). So $50 is actually pretty reasonable.
