Hey guys, is there any way other than going to Sage 2010's Sonic 1 fan game to get the SonMP3 Plugin? I want to use it for my hack, and I have the MP3 samples ready for coding. I know S1sage2010 had it, but now that the server is offline, I need the plugin, preferrably alone.

Hey, PM me about what you need specifically and we'll talk. Getting to work in standard Sonic 1 works with the replacement code stuff, but obviously with a hack all the addresses will be different. It essentially requires around 4 bytes in RAM, and a few little additions to the sound driver, but otherwise should all be fine.

Was wondering if any more work has been done on Sonmp3 and/or if its available to download on its own.

I replaced some of the tracks in the Sage2010 hack with some custom ones and it works like a dream. Curious to know if it can be used with the bog standard games, or Sonic 3 Complete if possible.

Work hasn't been done on this in a while, unfortunately, for two reasons. Firstly, I lost interest in it. That, and (as always with my things) I wanted to recode it better. Then, reason the second, GerbilSoft started working on Gens/GS II and I've been waiting for MDP stuff to start being added to that before continuing.

That being said, I should release the "notes" on how it's used in its current form. It's actually not too difficult to add yourself, if you know what you're doing and aren't afraid of a hex editor.

Thanks for the reply, shame to hear, but as always with these things, there's always room for improvement.

Tried the Sonic 2 mp3 tool a couple of days ago, although a bit twitchy in places it was promising, then when I tried this it was practically flawless. With the seamless looping capabilities I'm surprised more people haven't jumped on it for their hacks.

Bit of a total noob when it comes to hacking, but I'm slowly but steadily trying new things. Never touched a Hex editor but I'll try anything once.

Was impressed by NicoCW's recent classic remixes on youtube & used these in the place of the SADX tracks in the Sage2010 hack. Hardly rocket science but came out with excellent results. Hence my post.

Thought it might also be of use for all those badgering Tiddles for the PC SKC music in his S3 Complete hack, but judging from recent screengrabs, he may have already solved this another way.

Sonic2mp3Tool requires a old version of Gens and people seem to be ok with that. Why not just require a old version of Gens/GS? Who knows how long you could be waiting for Gens/GS II to be finished.

Nice to see people are still getting a kick out of that old program I'm not surprised people haven't jumped on it though, it is sort of "dirty" in a way, an implementation that isn't "true" genesis-only. That being said I would love to see SonMP3 completed so we have a complete solution for all the versions of Sonic.
