Also if you guys want, I can upload properly looped versions of the music in 320 kbps 48khz (I don't want to do 44khz because these songs are mixed with 48khz). They'll lack tags though, but the filenames are kinda self explanatory.

I expect they just used the international soundtrack for the re-release of CD because of all the retrofags blabbing on about how the Japanese soundtrack was so much better, and because it was available to more people at the time, more people will remember it. Plus I expect they figured that if there was enough interest, they could make even more money by offering up the US soundtrack as DLC. Plus, it's cheaper if you only get one soundtrack, and for a download only game, keeping costs down is everything. I'd be surprised if the US soundtrack didn't turn up in the new year.
And, slightly more on topic: I still haven't spoiled anything, I'm so proud of myself. Good job I'm going to my girlfriend's, or I'd be tearing my hair out by now, there's only so many cooking programmes one can watch.

This is the JP/EU version (unless the US version is also in the game)

One of my favorite music tracks in the whole Sonic series gets another awesome remix... Thank you, SEGA.

I knew I recognised it! This soundtrack really does incorporate everything. Modern Escape From The City has an It Doesn't Matter SA2 section and has new lyrics further into the song. Also, the tone shifts on the later "Follow me"'s with the held phrases are just music to the ears (lit.)
