Something like this maybe? With humps in the sand? But less on the crappy side?

I also adjusted the color, because the previous sand was a bit too bright to me. Again, feel free to ignore any of my thoughts. :x

The color on the sand looks incredibly dull and those bumps are an awful idea.
There was nothing wrong with the faces, just their execution. They looked pasted on, all they needed was some depth. The tiling on the grain is also painfully obvious. Fixing that up would greatly improve the whole thing.

I love the way it looks, very nice and sleek. Also love the "Good morning" in the sand. Very nice touch.

What Chimpo said. Make the tiling less obvious, and perhaps add a bit of perspective (skew) to the illustrations.
This looks pretty nice, overall! Good luck with it.

Sonic games don't usually have perspective... well, S3&K does a bit, but as a general rule the ground in Sonic games looks like it was "sliced" through. The floor never extends towards the camera, so bumps and perspective are terrible ideas. You can think of ways to decorate the sand, but you have to think about it as a wall that's facing us.

This game is looking gorgeous, I cannot wait to see it in action. What is the moveset going to be like? Spindash, peel out, insta shield...?
The classic Sonic 3 moves are used for each playable character. (I.E. Spindash, spinjump, insta-shield, etc.)
The Peel out, however, is tweaked to give a newer element to Sonic-only game play. I won't state what. Let it be a surprise.
I like the sound of that. I can't wait to play it.

Trying something new with the VOPM vist plugin. Since it's related to the game, it shall go here for anyone interested.

Now this looks better for a topic. :P Actual content.
Awesome art, and to be honest I thought the original sand colour/design looked better. The only change I would make is to layer the colour differently? I'll try to make an example in a few minutes when I've woken up properly.
That music is lovely too. My only complaint would be the drums used. With that graphical style, I'd suggest Sonic 3/K or Chaotix drums over Sonic 1/2's.

Those sound cool! The boss song in particular reminds me a bit of the song used in the last Sonic XG demo for the boss. Cool use of Sonic 3 samples for sure!
The special stage song is really fun! I like how you basically ripped off the Sonic 3D stage but made it sound unique and a lot better than the original. The melodies are extremely bouncy and engaging. I really love this one! :D
I can't remember what Dynamic Delta reminds me of off the bat right now, but the melody is fantastic and I dig the depth of that bass. You have a fantastic grasp on Sonic music and I'm confident that skill will make this game a truly special experience. Great work—hope to see and hear more from you!

Dynamic Delta is the song he used for the Sonic Worlds Engine. This appears to be a remix of it. Needless to say, the music is awesome.

Maybe you could lessen or get rid of the grain entirely in a few areas to create a brilliant sun shine effect on the sand.

ZoneBoss_WipSpecialStage_WipMultiplayer_Wip: Ban my game, ban my project,by all means, ban me too. : First, let's get the negative out the way. The boss music is not quite up to standard yet, it doesn't have the menace of Sonic 1s boss theme, the urgency of Sonic 2s or the epicness of Sonic 3s. I say that it's not up to standard, because fuck me, the other 2 tracks very much are. I've played DDZ a number of times already, fantastic stuff!

Do you have any samples of the Chaotix drums? I've made the tracks out of the Vist Plugin in FL studios, and the Ultimate genesis soundfont for the DAC sampling. If knew how to extract them myself I would, but I don't.
