I thought it might just be Vyse but I'm stoked to see Aika there too.

Hopefully her and Sticks meet up so the obvious comparison can happen.

Slightly old quote, but...

Also, I am seeing a LOT of butthurt from Megaman fans who don't want Sonic touching anything Megaman on other sites. It's kind of sad, really.

Was reaction this negative when Worlds Collide was a thing? As far as I know, it was pretty positive. Or are people now being negative because of the Sonic Boom games? Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

With that said, it might be interesting if there's a fight between Magma Dragoon and Ryu, if Dragoon appears that is.

Sonic's reputation is more in the shitter than ever. The comics are really niche, so no one really knows the franchises are in capable hands.

I'm still miffed that Megaman and Sonic are getting derailed again for another crossover. X really needs his own book, but I imagine this crossover is going to push that hard. World Collide already came off as rushed, so I'm worried that cramming this many franchises into another 12 part event is just going to make it worse.

I'm still holding out hope that Boom Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy will appear in the comics and meet their main series counterparts. If anything I just want to see how hilarious it could get. It seems increasingly likely that it will just be Sticks though.

I still don't think Sonic's reputation is as bad as it was in the mid 2000s era. It's not great now, but it's not its worst. The fact that Boom Sonic is a separate canon helps. Also luckily with this crossover we have the Boom comic now, so this will only derail 3 issues of each comic (I can't believe there are 3 Sonic comics, jesus christ).

Not really. That's not stopping most gamers from dismissing the entire franchise for the transgressions of one branch of it :P Sonic Boom has done significant damage to Sonic's reputation, but really, gamer culture just doesn't want to lose its favorite whipping boy, it doesn't matter if the franchise had mostly gotten back on track over the last few years.

I'm glad the delay is only 3 months this time, but even so, that's 3 months of the comic I won't be collecting. What's the point when there's going to be the graphic novel in 6 or whatever months?

But that #4 variant of MegaMan #50... that's just completely awful.

THIS. How the hell did that get approved? The city's just about the only good thing on there.

That one stood out to me as well - it looks like a teenager's fan art, or when you look at the first strip of a long running web comic. I don't want to be a dick about it, because art is difficult, everyone has to start from somewhere, and I'm sure they'll get better - but I'm stunned that this is considered to be of publishable quality. (From current Archie anyway. A LOT of dreck appeared in the Sonic comic 9+ years ago.)

Does anyone know who the artist is?

From the style, I'd wager it'd be Patrick Thomas Parnell, but if someone else can confirm or correct me on this that'd be great.

I get the feeling that that #4 comic is supposed to be seen as a Bad Boxart variant.

At least... I hope so....

The city background is even chock full of perspective issues, the entire cover is just bad. There's no way it isn't on purpose. That's one of the worst Archie covers I've ever seen, and I've seen Sonic's mid-150s covers.

Even worse than 'Ol Fish Lips Sally?

Actually, yes, yes it is. At the very least I can give #156's cover is that Sanford has a distinct personal style. It just doesn't work for Sonic; looking at some of his other work (if my google results brought me to the right guy), he's talented. Sonic just wasn't his forte.

As for Megaman 50 #4, it just looks like bad Deviantart fan art. But I don't think it's "intentionally" bad... I just think no effort was put in. If BlackHole is correct and it was done by Patrick Thomas Parnell, then I know he's capable of good work. In this case it just looks like maybe he was given a week or less to hash something out.

Intentional or no, that's ridiculously substandard art.

Forget the Fish Lips, that whole face screams sex face. And Sonic's ankle is doing some funny things there.
