The intro to this song reminded me of Sonic CD instantly. I could have sworn this sound was in more than one song, but I only hear it here.

Beware it's probably the dirtiest of the songs ever posted here so far. ;)/>

Pretty close resemblance, year of release says it's not too far fetched this was an influence.

Nice avatar, btw =P

Was listening to Lords of Acid more and found yet another similarity, although this one is even more obscure as it's not even music!

The intro to this song uses what sounds like the same sample used in Sonic Adventure when the Egg Carrier transforms(though pitch is different).

Lords of Acid - Sex Bomb

For an added funny coincidence, skip to 1:13 in the music video and it sounds like Sonic spinning. Please beware again it's a rather obscene video. Sonic likes the dirty stuff I guess. ;)

I was inspired by this topic to create videos about similarities between songs from different media. This is the first of few I have in the works.

In this comparison, a BGM in one scene in episode 22 of the anime Slam Dunk features a melody structure that I thought sounded similar to the present version of Tidal Tempest Zone from Sonic CD.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but thought to bump it up since it's not known in the Sonic scene as far as I know. This should be in the front page imo

The Intro to Apotos -> Windmill Isle Zone Day is sampled from the intro Blue Cat - Playing Hard To Get but sped up with backing drums to cover up the original sample.

-snip-

The guitars in windmill isle were actually found on a sample pack. I have no recollection of the name, though.

Also, the song you posted has various similarities to Windmill Village Mode 1/2

They seem to use the same intro roll sample. Looking through the samples from SRA's ROM, they seem to use the same drum samples as well.
The basslines is also strangely simillar to Windmill Village Mode 1.

I want to say they both sample a common source, because in Windmill there's a second part with a different rhythm. It could be skillfully spliced to create new rhythms, but it sounds like natural strumming as far as I can tell.

(2:13)
The sample in Ollie King contains no drums, and has two additional notes. It's possibly taken from another section of the original source, or another artist's rendition of the same song
