There was a Sonic commercial at the beginning of Wayne's World.
EEEEEEVERYONE and their grandma knows this one, some of the only "in action" footage of Sonic 1 Beta...

I for one have yet to have noticed any cultural references to Sega shit in any media yet that I can remember... though I haven't actually done much along the lines of pop culture media nowadays :U But here's one from an iPhone app (when you see it you'll shit bricks?)

In the cancelled TV Show My Wife And Kids, in one of the episodes, Michael Kyle Jr. plays his Sega Dreamcast:

There's also an episode of the cancelled TV show Malcolm In The Middle, Malcolm and his friend Steve plays... Sonic R in Malcolm's Sega Saturn! Unfortunately I don't remember which episode it was, since it was so long ago.
Oh man, I love this thread!
Jesus Christ!!

It's actually Stevie's Sega Saturn if I'm not mistaken, not Malcolm.

Also, there's an episode of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi that is entirely centered around a Sega Mega Drive, and the two of them even run up loops and roll down hill in a place that simulate Green Hill Zone in that episode.

The GHZ reference starts at 4:28, but I can't see the MD...
(Seriously, I hate this show)

Got some screen captures from Evangelion to back up my claim.
Oh my, it appears that our little Asuka is friends with a pirate! Look at the Winning Fighter Disk - looks suspiciously like a blank CD with writing on it!
Also, there's another moment in Evangelion - in the episode where Nerv has to siphon power from Japan, Kensuke and Toji are playing a Sega Saturn when the message is broadcast on TV.

The motion picture The Lost World: Jurassic Park has a Sega reference in it at the beginning.
Malcom's daughter Kelly stresses her dislike for her aunt that Malcom forces her to stay with and excliams "She doesn't even have Sega!"

From Can Can Bunny ep 4.
Also, on the Maliki animation, I recall them using a Megadrive.
Evangelion was Sega sponsored, as I recall, thats why the Saturn appeared so often. There were also a bajillion Saturn eva games.

Waitasec, Puyo Puyo Tsu in NGE?
If you look closely, it's actually Poyo Poyo.

This was true for Death, Rebirth and the End of Evangelion. The original tv series wasn't sponsored, as far as I know, and if it was, the product placement would have been explicitly Sega, rather than "Seca". And there wasn't a bajillion, maybe 4 or 5 (and another 3 on Dreamcast)

I remember this quite vividly. Malcolm was bemoaning how out-of-date the Saturn was. I think it was the first time I was made to feel old.
