Yes, um, Project S was canceled in January; they're well aware that it will never be released. This is the infodump for everyone who was waiting and wondering about it while it was in development.

Lol ironic don't you think?

An explanation of what Project S is would probably be a good start.

No prob. :3
Project S was a community based Sonic fan game that was inspired from Sonic Xtreme.
It was to incorporate 3D and 2D gameplay, much like how the daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed work. Chris Senn was our Project Lead. We spent about 3 years coming up with many designs, a storyline, graphics, music, and concept art for the game.

And yeah, it is pretty ironic how a game inspired off Xtreme suffered the same tragic fate. Lol.

If nobody lost his/her sanity in the process, then it isn't the same fate =|

XD Yeah, that's true.

I think we were all getting kind of tired of working on the game. There was lack of motivation, and a lot of us got caught up with our daily lives to have time to work on the project.

I personally really miss working on Project S, and I wish it hadn't been cancelled.. That project resulted in me making a lot of new friends, and it's really depressing when your producer announces that the project you've been working on has been cancelled. d:

I was wondering; being the project - to the best of my knowledge - never stopped being developed in Blender for the BGE, do you ever plan on releasing the project's resources?

If not, are there any plans for any sort of playable demos of what did get completed?

Maybe your team would have been more motivated if actual progress was shown to the public much earlier on. The encouragement from fans might have been what was needed to give your team more motivation. Just a thought. Also, sorry for not bothering to explain Project S. This thread was made rather quickly because I needed to use to use the bathroom really badly. >_> I'll include Lodmot's explanation in the first post for those who don't want to read through the whole thread.

Yeah, we do. We're gonna release all Project S material, though I'm not sure as far as the actual game goes. But we'll be releasing things such as concept art, the story, music, and sound effects. You can check the Senntient.com forums for updates.

I agree with you 100%. And it's fine man. When you gotta go, you gotta go. ^^

Story... oh god, im not looking forward to seeing the first draft me and the Story Lead at the time made up again, I made it too dramatic...
I am looking very forward to seeing all this however, be nice to see how the project evolved after I left, though its sad to see it go. The 2 major flaws with Project-S was the size of the team and the lack of organization, at least during '06-'07 anyway. In case anyone wants to ask, I was the Story Writer, Concept Artist, and Producer (After HXC departed), so, much like others here, I'd be more then happy to answer any questions I can.

By the way, some new Project S material has been released. A number of songs that me and Ibbod0 created for the game.
Here's the link to the posts.
