Only a couple of super early videos have been revealed so far, but it's about time some of it is finally getting revealed. I'm more excited about the new information about Sonic X-Treme which should be revealed next week but this is interesting too.

Edit-

For those who don't know what is Project S, here's an explanation by one of the people who worked on it.

An explanation of what Project S is would probably be a good start.

No prob. :3
Project S was a community based Sonic fan game that was inspired from Sonic Xtreme.
It was to incorporate 3D and 2D gameplay, much like how the daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed work. Chris Senn was our Project Lead. We spent about 3 years coming up with many designs, a storyline, graphics, music, and concept art for the game.

And yeah, it is pretty ironic how a game inspired off Xtreme suffered the same tragic fate. Lol.

Scripted loops and awkward camera...

It's a true 3D Sonic game.

I dunno that it looked like it played like ass, it just looked extremely early. But, jeeze, how long have they been working on this?

I was hoping for them to finally release stuff on this. Has anybody uploaded the videos to Youtube yet? This isn't my computer, and there isn't much space left on it so I can't download the files to watch them.

He walked up a ninety degree slope. Panic. This basically looks like how blitzsonic originally controlled before people started to improve it.

As in poorly.

Once a week? Those videos were from 2008, when do we get something recent? D:

But of course, Cyborg always has cool stuff to show in terms of sonic fangaming with the BGE. I still have one or two demos from his Sonic Bastardized fangame still lying around.

This is like every single 3d Sonic project in existence, it will never be released. No doubt after all these years they're still in the exact stage that every single Sonic 3D engine stays in, which is the...engine stage.

I said it before on SFGHQ and I have 100% confidence in saying it again: any and all 3D Sonic projects get nowhere and end up being ditched, never to be finished. I have spoken colbert.png

Conveniently enough, though, they're using the Blender Game Engine, so they've already got that covered. =P

Just means that, when they do ditch the project, it'll be at some point of playability. :3

I have no idea why did they post stuff so early. I mean, they have basically pulled off a Pier Solar there (release assets that are so old that they are completely unrelated to the actual game by that point, and still then the game isn't going to be released anytime soon).

So yeah, I wouldn't even pay attention to it. Those videos are literally test maps of an old engine (and if I recall correctly, Cyborg had reworked his engine completely since then).

Yes, um, Project S was canceled in January; they're well aware that it will never be released. This is the infodump for everyone who was waiting and wondering about it while it was in development.

Wow, it is already canceled? Then what in the world is the point of showing something so dated? I don't get it.

The point is to show the effort that was put into the game, and to let people enjoy looking at all the material we created for it.
By the way, I was the sound lead for the game. I'm known as Matrix802 on senntient.com's forums. So if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask me, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. :3
