I wasn't trying to get you to emulate them by any means. If people started doing that there'd be no need for more than one remaster per Zone and then call it a day. You're right on with the themes that both Blaze and ancara were going for, and they sound very good in their respective context. We'll have to agree to disagree on there being or not being more variation in their pieces than yours. I see their repetition spread out over two to three phrases vs. your single phrase.

The rest of your percussion is fine, it's just the use of the hi-hat that's been bothering me. Aside from that I'm more than ready to approve your submission.

I just have a few little things I'd like to see improved:

The new varied hi-hat patterns are much better than before, but they sound very unrealistic and static because they're all the same (or at least very similar) velocity. Hi-hats played in the style you've used ought to sound very dynamic and expressive, with lots of little crescendos and decrescendos leading the listener forward.
Similarly, the lead needs to be more expressive as well - I feel like it's just playing notes at me. Definitely start with a wider range of note velocities, and if you can try modulating the volume manually (to add crescendos and decrescendos), and possibly varying the amount of tremolo on each note.

Mix-wise, it sounds excellent. If I may gripe, the snare reverb is a *little* too powerful, and is a bit distracting for me (though it sounds like you might have the reverb applied to the whole drum kit... if so, don't bother messing with it). Also, the output sounds a little hot - maybe dial the compression back by a couple db's so it doesn't sound quite so relentless.

Yeah, the new hi-hat thing was thrown together pretty quickly (hell, I only started working on this at all the night I posted the first version) so I didn't go through and tweak the velocities, and the output is definitely hot - it clips quite a bit even before compression. Those are both things I plan on fixing before I consider it done.

This is the start of something epic. Mind you, it's not up to snuff yet, but I can see this ultimately becoming final product material.

The harmonica is fantastic. The blowing winds and rock organ are a nice touch. The percussion and half of the brass instruments are good enough. But the brass used in the final part drags it down.

This one is hard to critique. It sounds great, no two ways about it. Loving that cowbell. I have to agree with what was said about the trumpets though. And even that's a minor nitpick in the greater scheme of things.

Thanx for the critique and I totally agree with you. Right now, its trombone, tenor sax and organ playing that last part but its sounds kinda bland. I'm open to any ideas actually.

Not to sound like a prick, but the Mega Drive did stereo all the way to the side, iirc. There was no inbetween.

Then again, we don't have to abide by limitations, so go nuts with stereo.
