As we all know, the old Sonic games indeed suffered from mediocre NTSC to PAL conversions, and as a result the PAL versions of the games play much slower. My question is, did you grow up with the slower paced PAL or the speedy NTSC? Since I played Sonic 3 & Knuckles on PC instead of on a Megadrive, I experienced the faster speed, which in my opinion is the best. Also, do you think you would have enjoyed Sonic more/less if you played it at a different speed? Please discuss with intense linguistics.

Faster NTSC.
And I'm happy I did.

Well, S3K plays at the same speed on both PAL and NTSC, they'd fixed it by then.
Unfortunately, I grew up with the slower, PAL-region Sonic. Still, I suppose it made all the difference when I finally played it at full speed.

If I remember, only Sonic 1 suffered from a horrible NTSC to PAL conversion 2, 3 and S&K were fine. Although, I could be wrong since I can't remember how long it's been since I booted up Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive.

IIRC, Sonic 1 is slow with slow music, Sonic 2 is the correct speed, but with slow music, and S3K is the same.

Huh? Someone explain why ALL the old games are slow on Mega Collection Plus (PS2). I thought they were the PAL roms.

I didn't really grow-up with Sonic, but my first game was whatever Nintendo is selling on VC in the U.S. as Sonic the Hedgehog 3. (which I'm pretty sure is the NTSC version, but don't hold me to that.) Though, if Polygon Jim is right, it shouldn't matter.
Well, whatever, it was still a fun game no matter what.

50Hz guy here, I don't say PAL because I use RGB and PAL/NTSC loses its meaning, only 50/60 stays :P
It does not matter much to me really, I do prefer the music being slower in Sonic1...

I grew up with PAL versions, but as mentioned earlier in the topic, Sonic 2 and especially Sonic 3/Knuckles did not suffer. I don't think S3D did suffer either.

NTSC, obviously. To play classic Sonic any other way should have been a cardinal sin. Although I'm sure it did lead to Wrath and Envy among PAL-region players.

NTSC of course, I grew up in America. As for Sonic 2, I once owned the PAL version and I didn't even know it at the time. I traded it back in. D:

Even if I live in a PAL country I never played a 50Hz Sonic game, as I had a Game Gear first, and I got the Sonic & Knuckles Collection later
