Incidentally, PowerSonic itself shut down as well. Sonic Rebirth was a remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and was at SAGE last year or the year before, I can't remember. I remember playing the demo and wanting to get the full version, which was supposed to be released on September 9th last year if I remember correctly. However, when I went to download it, it said "NEW VERSION COMING SOON" and I was never given the opportunity to get this new version.
Then one day I head over there and find the site's down and dead, and so I won't be able to download it. I tried emailing
[email protected] (the provided email address) but I have received no reply. So my question is, did anyone get to download it? And if you did, would you mind hosting it so I can download it?

I dunno about the new version that was supposed to be released, that might show up at the next SAGE, but here's the old one for anyone who wants it, courtesy of a friend of mine.

Yeah I was always curious what the hubbub was about. it was pretty strange for a demo to come up then quickly go down and have not only the creators but the whole frickin site disappear from existence.
Hope theres a good explanation other then "LULZ SRRY WAS LAZY."

The
trailer was rather inspiring and they've got pretty good artists, but the game was utter, utter dreck. It used an out of date version of the questionable Sonic Worlds engine and was riddled with bugs, nor did it try especially hard to set itself apart from Sonic 1 (what it did try was not well thought out). Avoid.

I like my Sonic 1 remake very much, thank you. I would like it more if I had the OGG versions of the music though.

I wonder how hard it would be to port these wonderful, wonderful graphics into Sonic 1 32X?

Yeah, Sonic Rebirth would've been a great graphics hack for Sonic 1 (in some respects anyway - don't know about that badnik art). But like Flash said, it was basically using Sonic Worlds and it wasn't using it very well. If you're going to do something like that, you need to do it the right way.
Unfortunately, Sonic Rebirth half-assed a lot of the most important parts (controls, physics, polish, etc.).
I always figured they were a better fit for something like Retro Engine or Stealth's E02.

No you wouldn't, it's worse than the MIDI by an astonishing margin.

I actually replaced a lot of the music in Sonic Rebirth with music I had personally rendered in FL Studio.
I would have offered my services to them just for that purpose but I don't know who made a lot of the MIDIs (only recently have I begun to keep that information around) and I don't want to step on any toes.

Shit, this actually looks pretty funky. Is it worth downloading the link D.A.Garden posted?

Yeah, I read about this game a while ago and then I guess it just dropped off my mind. Downloading now; hoping this is as dope as the trailer was. (minus the song. . . wasn't really feeling the song.)

Same here, Labyrinth is a bigger pain in Rebirth than in the original. And I f*&%ing hate the boss of that level too.

This makes Sonic Genesis look like Metroid Zero Mission.
It's absolutely disgraceful; the physics are shit, the music is shit, and I encountered a game-breaking bug during the first boss.
