I know that this is how I draw Sonic in my style, but if SEGA really wanted to do something completely different with the art style of Sonic yet feel familiar, it would probably look like this:



That's how I'd redesign Sonic.

This is what happens when Sega creates modern Sonic in the mid-90's.
EDIT: Chimpo beat me to it. I think we had, like, four people post at the same time.

I seem to recall seeing Sonic with a bandana somewhere, and I when I drew him with it afterwards, I liked it. Sonic should have a bandana. =P I also like him with more "realistic" spikes. If I were to redraw this picture, I'd probably make him a bit chubbier. But somewhat like this:

Plus, I wouldn't mind Nextgen Eggbotnik if he had somewhat toonier proportions. His cooler glasses, lack of the useless goggles, slick mustache, overall better costume and suave-yet-menacing personality makes him all the more awesome.

lol of course you may have noticed I was pointing out the bandana bit. =P

Also (since I've thought of a different character every time I post) Tails would look better as just classic Tails with blue eyes. Tails' blue eyes are probably the only ones in the series that truly compliment the character's design. It looks really adorable on him if done right. And the reason why I say "classic Tails" is because modern Tails is pale yellow with a flat muzzle (instead of the adorably long snout) and a doofy facial expression (see Tails in my signature). Plus, I'm no fan of Tails being near the same height as Sonic. That's sort of odd to look at, since Tails is supposed to be at least 3/4ths Sonic's size.

Knuckles basically looks the same as his original design except with purple eyes anyways, so there's really no real flaws with him. He could basically stay the same for all I care.

I personally don't see the need to redesign Sonic for Needlemouse, I have nothing to complain about the 1998 and on design - I prefer it over the classic design anytime. But, If was requested to me to redesign Sonic for this specific game, would look a Sonic CD and new design hybrid like this:

I would like to see classic Sonic with just different colored eyes. If Project Needlemouse is supposed to resemble the classic Sonic games, then SEGA shouldn't use modern Sonic.
